About the Role
At Lytx, our mission is simple: a world where every journey ends with a safe return. We power that mission with massive driving data, industry‑leading video + AI, and a platform designed to protect people at scale.
We’re looking for a Staff Architect who enjoys solving complex, cross‑domain problems and helping engineering teams build with consistency and confidence. In this role, you’ll shape architecture across key domains, set technical direction, and influence how teams design and deliver systems across the platform.
You’ll partner closely with senior engineers, product leaders, and the Sr. Staff Architect to translate strategy into practical, buildable architecture.
What You’ll Do
- Own domain architecture: Design and evolve architecture across one or more domains (application integration, cloud infrastructure, or security), aligned with enterprise strategy and AI‑first principles.
- Apply an AI‑first approach: Incorporate AI‑assisted development, intelligent system design, and AI‑powered tooling; guide teams on where AI adds value and how to use it responsibly.
- Drive architectural alignment: Lead design reviews, participate in architecture forums, and reduce duplication through shared patterns and standards.
- Design AWS cloud‑native systems: Architect secure, scalable, and cost‑effective solutions using AWS and Well‑Architected best practices.
- Define integration patterns: Establish standards for service‑to‑service communication, APIs, and event‑driven architectures.
- Embed security and governance: Design with security, compliance, zero‑trust, and IAM best practices from the start.
- Translate requirements into designs: Partner with product and engineering to create clear, implementable architectures with documented tradeoffs.
- Author ADRs: Write concise, durable architecture decisions teams can rely on long‑term.
- Mentor engineers: Grow senior engineers through reviews, pairing, and feedback while building an AI‑first engineering culture.
What You Bring
- 8+ years in software or infrastructure engineering, including 2+ years in architect or principal‑level roles with cross‑team scope.
- AI‑first mindset: Hands‑on experience using AI tools and integrating AI/ML capabilities into production systems.
- Strong AWS expertise: Experience with services such as EKS, Lambda, IAM, VPC, EventBridge, and Well‑Architected principles.
- Solid networking fundamentals: VPC design, security groups, PrivateLink, and multi‑account architectures.
- Integration experience: Proven design of reliable synchronous and asynchronous systems at scale.
- Security awareness: Experience with zero‑trust, IAM, data classification, and common compliance frameworks.
- Clear communication: Ability to explain tradeoffs to technical and non‑technical audiences; writes ADRs people actually use.
- Strong coding foundation: Comfortable prototyping, reviewing code, and guiding implementations.
- Collaborative leadership: Builds consensus, mentors others, and elevates the teams around them.
Nice to Have
- Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).
- Hands‑on work with AI/ML platforms or LLM‑based tooling in production.
- Exposure to FinOps or cloud cost optimization.
- Experience building internal developer platforms or shared tooling.
- Background in regulated industries (transportation, healthcare, finance, etc.).
Benefits:
- Medical, dental and vision insurance
- Health Savings Account
- Flexible Spending Accounts
- Telehealth
- 401(k) and 401(k) match
- Life and AD&D insurance
- Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
- FTO or PTO
- Employee Well-Being program
- 11 paid holidays plus 1 inclusive holiday per year
- Volunteer Time Off
- Employee Referral program
- Education Reimbursement Program
- Employee Recognition and Appreciation program
- Additional perk and voluntary benefit programs
