Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff SEIT Electrical Design Integration (EDI). This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.
Job Description:
The Staff SEIT Electrical Design & Integration Engineer will join the Sentinel Systems Engineering, Integration, & Test (SEIT) Segment’s Software & System Integration Team (SSIT) Element and contribute to the Weapon System Integration (WSI) Electrical Design Integration (EDI) Team. This role will serve as the Power Technical Lead on the Weapon System Electrical Design Team, who will be responsible for integrating all segment and lower-level team’s designs such that fundamental electrical engineering principles are being exercised appropriately throughout the design lifecycle in a consistent manner. Candidates must be able to understand the intent of Weapon System design at the highest levels and drive engineering processes & analyses into specific product team designs to prove successful design integration and analyze for potential gaps. The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership and foundational systems engineering skills to drive process and technical gap resolution of interface and requirement design solutions to achieve program and contract objectives. Demonstrated ability to foster diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, and the ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in collaborating and leading Engineering teams.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Supporting design requirements for electrical power generation, conversion and distribution systems, and circuit protective requirements for air and ground systems including Electrical Loads Analysis, test procedures, power architectures, reports, analyses, and other power related deliverables.
Responsible system level engineer activities include all aspects of system/component design and development including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, requirement derivation, system test and verification, troubleshooting, and data processing.
Attending internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
Working in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Ensure appropriate coordination between SEIT and other integration teams
Responsibilities to include the integration and documentation of electrical systems designs for the weapon system. Oversee and coordinate electrical system engineering content and work products.
May perform research, evaluation, and systems integration in electrical or electro-mechanical systems, cables, connectors, circuit card assemblies, power systems, computer systems, test equipment, and more.
Capable of performing analyses at all levels of total weapon system product lifecycle to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation and maintenance.
Possess strong interpersonal skills to work effectively to understand system level interdependencies that impact electrical requirements and design constraints.
Demonstrate leadership principles – Integrity, respect, organizational, communication etc
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent STEM related discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) from an accredited university with 12 years of relevant experience, 10 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree, or 8 years of relevant experience with a PhD
US Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification.
Assist in determining unit-under-test test requirements and then translating those requirements into a test and repair operational environment
Minimum 2+ years working experience with MBSE tools (ie DOORs, Cameo)
Experience performing electrical troubleshooting, root-cause analysis (RCA), failure modes analysis (FMA), or similar
Strong interdisciplinary problem-solving skills, demonstrated by frequent and successful application of technical standards, theories, concepts, and techniques
Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment
Minimum 5+ years working experience on ICBMs or other ground to air-based systems.
5+ years of electrical engineering experience in at least two of the following fields: electrical architecture, design, interface definition (internal and/or external), development and test of mixed signal circuits, power distribution, or avionics system integration for aerospace or defense.
Minimum 4+ years working experience utilizing power system design, and/or analysis software tools, such as ETAP, PSS/E, SKM or PSCAD
Minimum 4+ years working experience designing, troubleshooting (RCA) and/or implementing ground power systems, facility power systems and/or launch power systems
Knowledge of industry/military codes and standards, including the IEEE, NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEC, and UFC
Experience utilizing Siemens Xpedition, Altium Designer, or a similar development suite for Schematic Capture, CCA Layout, and DRC
Experience utilizing Siemens Capital
Ability to determine unit-under-test test requirements and then translate those requirements into a test and repair operational environment
Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Experience with Spice, MathCAD, MATLAB, or other simulation tool suites
Experience with creating and executing to schedule & technical recovery plans
Strong communication and interpersonal skills that will be required to interface across multiple customer organizations - and the ability to pull together and lead high performing teams.
Strong work ethic and the ability to work self-sufficiently
Experience working across program organizations to find solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
Past/Active employment with MMIII or Sentinel Weapon Systems with substantial execution toward electrical engineering technical products Experience contributing towards various phases of a program lifecycle
DoD experience in testing and maintaining complex weapon system components with an emphasis in electrical engineering
Experience with high-power and high-frequency systems, including power electronics, RF telemetry, and secure communications.
Knowledge of EMI/EMC design, shielding techniques, and thermal management for electronic systems.
Familiarity with hardware qualification processes, including environmental testing, vibration, and shock testing.
Hands-on experience with system integration, troubleshooting, and flight test support.
Experience in hypersonic vehicle, missile, or high-speed aircraft programs.
Knowledge of radiation-hardened electronics and fault-tolerant design for extreme conditions.
Knowledgeable with the use of basic test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, DMMs, and electronic loads.
Broad or high-level circuit design and analysis.
Authorship and release of engineering documentation including technical drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
Experience contributing towards various phases of a program lifecycle
Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, milestone reviews, and government contracting.
Experience maintaining and reporting status of program activities

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $229,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
