Staff RF Engineer

San Mateo Full Time

Location: In Office (San Mateo, CA). This role requires in office work 4-5 days/week.

The Role

GoPro is seeking a top-tier candidate for the role of Staff RF Engineer, responsible for implementing wireless technologies across GoPro products. Working closely with the core engineering team, you will contribute to the design and validation process from concept through prototype and into mass production, collaborating extensively with cross-functional teams throughout development. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, and GNSS systems, with hands-on experience in both design and verification of these or similar wireless technologies used in mobile products, including a strong understanding of receiver de‑sense mitigation techniques.

What You Will Do

  • Design RF solutions and architectures for cameras, accessories, and other consumer electronics products, including evaluation of new wireless technologies
  • Develop schematics, guide RF component placement, and work with PCB layout teams.
  • Use RF simulation and measurement tools for design, tuning, and optimization.
  • Lead cross‑functional design reviews with ME, EE, FW, SW, and ID teams.
  • Carry out design bring-up and optimization, including debug, desense mitigation, and regulatory compliance
  • Analyze test data to resolve failures and ensure a robust, reliable product.

 

Skills We’re Excited About

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with 5–10 years RF hardware experience.
  • Hands‑on expertise with Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, GNSS, MIMO, LTE, or similar wireless systems.
  • Strong knowledge of RF front ends, transceivers, system architecture, and de‑sense mitigation.
  • Experience with ADS/Genesys/CST, plus schematic/PCB tools (OrCAD, Allegro a plus).
  • Proven debugging ability across board bring‑up, calibration, EMI/EMC, and certification.
  • Excellent cross‑functional collaboration skills; mentoring or leadership experience preferred.

The pay range for this role is between $148,200 - $185,300. Actual pay within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including your residence location and prior work experience. Equity, benefits, and a discretionary bonus may be additional forms of compensation for this role and are not included in the provided pay range.
