Faire

Staff Product Manager - AI Search

San Francisco, CA Full Time

About Faire

Faire is an online wholesale marketplace built on the belief that the future is local — independent retailers around the globe are doing more revenue than Walmart and Amazon combined, but individually, they are small compared to these massive entities. At Faire, we're using the power of tech, data, and machine learning to connect this thriving community of entrepreneurs across the globe. Picture your favorite boutique in town — we help them discover the best products from around the world to sell in their stores. With the right tools and insights, we believe that we can level the playing field so that small businesses everywhere can compete with these big box and e-commerce giants.

By supporting the growth of independent businesses, Faire is driving positive economic impact in local communities, globally. We’re looking for smart, resourceful and passionate people to join us as we power the shop local movement. If you believe in community, come join ours.

About this role

Faire’s AI Search PM will lead the evolution of product discovery — shaping the experience of how retailers find and ideate assortments on Faire and in emerging AI ecosystems.

This role drives two interconnected mandates:

  1. AI Search: Operationalizing Faire’s next generation of search through AI-enabled, intent-driven, and multimodal discovery capabilities.
  2. Search UX: Owning the end-to-end user experience of Search, ensuring seamless collaboration across algorithm, design, and engineering teams to deliver measurable improvements in discovery performance. This PM will work across Search engineering, data science, and design teams — balancing innovation with disciplined execution to advance Faire’s strategy across internal (e.g., core Search, Brand Page search) and external search surfaces (e.g.,ChatGPT, Gemini).

What you’ll do

Drive Faire’s AI Search vision through three complementary initiatives:

  • Bring AI to core Search: Partner with the Search Algorithm team to translate AIand semantic capabilities (e.g., natural language understanding, intent-based retrieval, explainability) into intuitive, high-impact retailer experiences. You’ll own how the technology manifests in the product — ensuring it improves discoverability, trust, and search quality.
  • Define and build the Brainstorm-to-Buy experience: Use retailer insights and experimentation to identify the first ideation-to-purchase use cases. Work closely with design, engineering, and data science to prototype and test an alpha, iterating toward scalable customer and business impact.
  • Shape Faire in AI: Define how Faire’s catalog and commerce capabilities should appear within AI ecosystems (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini). Develop a structured approach to integration that expands Faire’s reach and aligns with company priorities and creates a seamless user experience.

Lead UX for Faire’s core Search experience:

  • Translate the Core search strategy into action: Lead the experience strategy for Faire’s core search, connecting algorithmic improvements and design initiatives into cohesive user-facing experiences that make it easier for buyers to find the right products and for brands.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

Within the Search group:

  • Balance resourcing across AI Search initiatives, ongoing UX projects, and algorithm-driven work that requires design and engineering support.
  • Act as the connective bridge between the Search design, engineering, anddata science, ensuring strong alignment, shared goals, and cohesive execution.
  • Foster a culture of velocity, transparency, and collaboration across the Search group — aligning teams around shared outcomes rather than feature silos.
  • Define clear hypotheses, success metrics, and learning plans for each launch — driving rapid iteration and evidence-based prioritization.

Beyond the Search group:

  • Collaborate with Acquisition on the AI-Enhanced Optimization (AEO) roadmap to extend Faire’s reach into external AI ecosystems.
  • Identify and shape strategic integration opportunities with OpenAI (ChatGPT), Google (Gemini), and other partners — aligning user needs with Faire’s long-term growth strategy.
  • Communicate progress and insights effectively to executives (via Top 8) and key stakeholders, tying AI capability to retailer and business value.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 8+ years of product management experience, with a focus on building scaled user-facing experiences; prior AI, search, or discovery experience is a plus.
  • Customer Centricity: Passionate about understanding user needs, behaviors, and decision-making processes to design products that create measurable customer and business value.
  • UX Intuition: Strong product and design sensibility — skilled at shaping intuitive, elegant, and delightful interfaces in close collaboration with Design and Research partners.
  • Executional Excellence: Skilled at balancing strategic vision with pragmatic execution — operating with clarity, urgency, and focus in fast-paced environments.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Track record of partnering effectively with Design, Research, Data, and Engineering to bring elegant, performant solutions to market.
  • Data Savviness: Strong analytical mindset with fluency in metrics, experimentation, and evaluation frameworks to drive learning and continuous improvement.
  • Influence & Communication: Exceptional communicator and collaborator, able to influence across technical and creative disciplines and align diverse stakeholders from peers to executives around a shared vision.
