About the Role

Veeam is defining a next-generation design language to unify and modernize the user experience across its platform. We’re looking for a Staff-level designer who obsesses over visual clarity, motion nuance, and UI precision. You’re energized by the details—spacing, rhythm, timing—and take pride in shaping product experiences that feel intentional down to the last pixel and frame.

As the Visual & Motion Standards Owner, you will architect the visual and motion layers of the design system and ensure they are technically grounded, scalable, and deeply integrated into engineering workflows. Your work will shape how the Veeam platform looks, moves, and communicates—especially as we evolve toward more dynamic and AI-driven product behaviors.

This role is ideal for a visual systems designer who loves beauty, cares deeply about craft, and knows how to codify that craft into a system that thousands of screens rely on.

What You'll Do

Visual System Architecture

  • Own the visual specification of the design system, defining rules for typography, color, grids, spacing, iconography, and data visualization.
  • Translate brand direction into component-ready specifications with clear rationale, constraints, and measurable quality criteria.
  • Collaborate with Brand Design to maintain a cohesive visual DNA across product UI, website, and communication surfaces.
  • Establish visual patterns that hold up under technical constraints (density, theming, resolution, performance).

Motion & Interaction Standards

  • Define the motion framework for the platform, including choreography rules, easing curves, timing scales, transition models, and motion tokens.
  • Create motion specifications that map cleanly to engineering implementation—with exact values, behaviors, and interaction logic.
  • Prototype motion sequences that improve comprehension of hierarchy, system feedback, and multi-step workflows.
  • Set guardrails for when not to animate, reinforcing discipline, restraint, and performance.

Technical Integration & Systemization

  • Embed visual and motion logic into design system tokens, components, and documentation with high precision.
  • Partner with the Staff Design System Designer to ensure components express intended visual and motion standards across all breakpoints and states.
  • Collaborate with engineering to validate feasibility, performance impact, and consistency across frontend frameworks.
  • Provide specifications (values, thresholds, conditions) that translate directly into code.

Designing for Dynamic & AI-Aware Product Behavior

  • Create visual and motion patterns that support adaptive, automated, or intelligence-driven workflows.
  • Define how system intelligence is visually communicated—confidence indicators, state transitions, progressive updates—using intentional visual and motion cues.

Governance & Craft Quality

  • Set quality benchmarks and review gates to ensure visual and motion coherence across teams.
  • Conduct polish reviews and motion QA for key surfaces to maintain clarity, hierarchy, and perceived quality.
  • Provide direct guidance on layout accuracy, density, alignment precision, and motion consistency.

Mentorship & Craft Leadership

  • Coach designers on visual rigor, motion fundamentals, typography discipline, color usage, and detailed execution.
  • Lead visual and motion inspections, component polish sessions, and system-evolution discussions within the Design System Guild.
What You'll Bring
  • 8+ years in product design with deep specialization in visual systems, motion design, and UI craft for complex software products.
  • Proven ability to define standards that are technically detailed, implementation-ready, and scalable across large product ecosystems.
  • Experience designing for dynamic or automated workflows and articulating how visual/motion cues clarify system behavior.
  • Expertise in Figma (tokens, component architecture, variables) and advanced prototyping tools (After Effects, Principle, Framer, Lottie).
  • A portfolio demonstrating exceptional attention to detail, refined visual execution, motion clarity, and system thinking - focused on product interfaces, not websites.
Bonus Skills
  • Experience with enterprise, cybersecurity, DevOps, data, or infrastructure platforms.
  • Familiarity with code-based motion frameworks and how design tokens propagate into frontend systems.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility and performance considerations related to visual and motion design.
What You'll Get
  • Unlimited paid time off, plus 3 global VeeaMe Days for self-care
  • Paid parental leave: 8 weeks for all parents, 16 weeks for birthing parents
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage from day one
  • Mental health support, therapy sessions, and digital wellness tools via SupportLinc EAP
  • 401(k) retirement plan with matching contributions up to annual limits
  • Fertility, adoption, and surrogacy support through Maven, plus paid volunteer time
  • AirVet: 24/7 virtual veterinary care at no cost
  • Legal services, identity protection, and supplemental health insurance options
  • Tax-advantaged spending accounts for healthcare, dependent care, and commuting
  • Professional training and education, including courses and workshops, internal meetups, and unlimited access to our online learning platforms (LinkedIn Learning, Athena, O’Reilly) and mentoring through our MentorLab program
