Staff Product Designer, People Product

United States - Remote Full Time

About the Team

The People Technology Product team builds the internal products and frameworks that power every employee’s journey at DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo globally. We design experiences that help candidates get hired, employees grow, managers develop their teams, and People teams operate efficiently — all within a hybrid ecosystem of custom-built applications and best-in-class SaaS tools.

Our work spans the full candidate and employee lifecycle — from recruiting and onboarding to learning, performance, compensation, employee support, and offboarding. Our north star is to create a connected, intelligent, and intuitive experience for every person who interacts with DoorDash’s People systems.

We partner closely with Engineering, People/HR, IT, and Analytics to build an operating system for how work gets done — one that blends human-centered design, automation, and AI to deliver fast, reliable, and delightful experiences.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Staff Product (UX) Designer to design the future of how employees, managers, and People teams interact with DoorDash’s technology. As our sole designer, you’ll own the end-to-end design and research strategy for key experiences across hiring, onboarding, talent management/growth, compensation, and service delivery — spanning multiple user groups (employees, managers, recruiters, People Business Partners, Comp Partners, and HR Operations). You’ll own both user experience design as well as user experience research; your design focus will primarily be on our custom-built applications and you’ll also conduct research across our full portfolio.

This is a foundational, critical role that blends research, systems design thinking, and interaction design. You’ll uncover user needs, define information architecture across our hybrid stack, and design intuitive, scalable interfaces that make complex systems feel effortless. You’ll also shape the design principles and frameworks that will guide our evolution from tools to experiences — contributing directly to DoorDash’s long-term People Product vision, affecting tens of thousands of employees’ career development.

What You’ll Own

  • End-to-End Experience Design: Lead design across the candidate, employee, manager, and People team journeys — from discovery and mapping to prototyping and validation — ensuring experiences are cohesive across 1P and 3P systems.
  • User Research and Insights: Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to uncover user needs, pain points, and mental models. Translate findings into actionable insights and design opportunities.
  • Information Architecture: Define navigation, structure, and interaction models that unify the employee experience across multiple systems (Workday, Greenhouse, our manager hub, and our employee AI assistant, etc.).
  • Prototyping and Testing: Rapidly prototype and validate concepts with users and stakeholders; partner with Engineering to bring designs to life through iterative testing and refinement.
  • Design Systems and Standards: Help establish a People Product design system that ensures consistency, accessibility, and scalability across all People-facing tools.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, and People Team Centers of Excellence to align design decisions with user needs, business objectives, system constraints, and employee outcomes.
  • AI and Automation Design: Shape the UX of AI-powered interactions (e.g., our AskHR employee assistant) that redefine how employees get work done.

You’re Excited About This Role Because You…

  • Are passionate about improving how people experience work — from candidates applying for jobs to managers making decisions that matter.
  • Thrive in complex systems — you can navigate a mix of SaaS and custom tools, multiple personas, and evolving process landscapes.
  • Love blending research and design — you’re as comfortable running user interviews as you are designing high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Bring structure to ambiguity — you can define frameworks, principles, and architectures that make the ecosystem more usable and scalable.
  • See UX as a systems discipline — you design not just for the experience, but for the process/workflow, the moment, and the outcome.
  • Aren’t afraid to make design decisions with incomplete information – you see experimentation as a value-add in your design process and seek to test and learn.
  • Want to help shape how DoorDash builds products internally — influencing how we think about product, design, and AI across People Tech.

We’re Excited About You Because You…

  • Have 8+ years of UX design experience, ideally in enterprise, people, or internal systems contexts.
  • Have demonstrated ability to lead design end-to-end, from discovery through delivery, across complex workflows.
  • Have strong experience conducting user research and synthesizing insights into design strategy and IA.
  • Are fluent in designing for hybrid ecosystems — integrating SaaS platforms (e.g., Workday, Greenhouse, ServiceNow) with custom-built tools.
  • Understand accessibility, localization, and the nuances of designing for global, distributed workforces.
  • Communicate clearly, collaborate deeply, and can articulate design rationale to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Are excited by AI, automation, and systems thinking — and want to help design the product foundation for our future.
