Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Staff Mission Assurance Engineer (Level 5) to join our team in Chandler, AZ. This position will provide on-site support to our Sentinel Team as a lead; relocation is not available.
The candidate is expected to have a high level of leadership skills that can successfully guide a team that supports multiple product lines for the Sentinel customer. Interfacing with program management, DCMA-SP and SDS customers will be a high priority. The candidate will need to be willing to work EWW to support all program needs.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
In this job, you will:
Support and represent Mission Assurance in Program meetings and review activities.
Develop, analyze, and gather metrics to support Customer and Program leadership reviews.
Create, manage, and refine comprehensive program documentation that covers deliverable requirements, technical specifications, and supporting materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and full compliance with project objectives and customer expectations.
Provide guidance of Mission Assurance processes and requirements integration with engineering activities to varying levels of management and Customers.
Interface with manufacturing, engineering, Program management, and subcontractor representatives to resolve issues and ensure alignment with contractual and technical requirements.
Conduct thorough data reviews and compliance assessments to verify adherence to contractual, technical, and regulatory requirements, ensuring alignment with program objectives and industry standards.
Support continuous improvement, proposing and executing process changes to optimize program outcomes and quality objectives.
Support and drive high-level Quality Management System (QMS) activities, including process development, implementation, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives, to ensure compliance with AS9100 standards and organizational objectives.
Special Projects to support Mission Assurance Priorities and goals as assigned.
Basic Qualifications for Level 5:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering +12 years of relevant experience; Master’s Degree + 10 years of experience; PhD + 8 years of experience
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance, which typically requires US Citizenship
Strong knowledge of AS9100 standards, Quality Management Systems (QMS), and industry-specific regulatory requirements (e.g., NASA, DoD, FAA).
Demonstrated experience interfacing with internal and external customers, including government customers.
Ability to interpret and implement complex requirements to achieve customer and project goals.
Expertise in quality management systems to support Program processes, audits, and product improvements
Hands-on experience in quality assurance for aerospace or defense industries with a focus on spacecraft, launch vehicles, or similar technologies.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (data analysis, pivot tables, advanced formulas), Visio (process mapping, workflow diagrams), and PowerPoint (professional presentations for internal and customer communication).
Travel approximately 25%
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Government Customers.
Active U.S. Government security clearance of Secret or above
Experience mentoring or leading
Skilled in managing multiple responsibilities and tasks simultaneously while maintaining focus and meeting deadlines.
Strong ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, prioritize tasks, and adapt to shifting project needs to deliver high-quality results.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical documentation, data, and test results.
Proficiency in risk management and root cause analysis, utilizing tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, or similar frameworks.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High level understanding of RCCA methods such as 5-Why, 8D, and Fishbone analysis.
