A Day in the Life

Our Staff Environmental Professional position is located in Sandy Spring, GA, just outside of Atlanta, GA.

The Staff Professional will work primarily with the remediation project team. On the Remediation Team, this position will apply theory and principles of environmental engineering to real-world situations involving environmental site assessments, hydrogeologic assessments, chemical transport and fate evaluation, remedial technologies evaluation, and other related scientific and engineering endeavors. The Staff Professional will at times also support the Regulatory Compliance Team, which assists clients in a variety of industries to stay in compliance with federal and state environmental regulatory programs. We are recognized as a high-end provider of environmental consulting services with a high degree of client service and value.

The annual compensation range for this role is $55,000 to $80,000 commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location

To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

  • Perform multi-media site assessment sampling and field oversight of drillers or other subcontractors. This includes planning for the field events and preparing cost estimates

  • Analyze data using advanced techniques, including statistical evaluation, database development and manipulation, and preparing GIS and 3-dimensional maps and models.

  • Performing environmental compliance audits, drafting reports, and assisting with corrective action programs.

  • Evaluate remedial technologies, including comparative analyses; evaluate human health and ecological risk; develop concept-level remedial design plans; and evaluate chemical transport and fate in the environment.

  • Support for the Regulatory Compliance Team may include preparing compliance plans including Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans, and Permit applications for air, water and waste.

  • Complete and maintain HAZWOPER certification with the 40-hour HAZWOPER environmental health and safety class, and annual 8-hour refresher classes.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Expertise and Skills

These requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Geology or Science from an accredited four-year college or university, master’s degree is preferred

  • 2-3 years related experience is preferred, including experience performing environmental monitoring, sampling, testing and basic evaluation or environmental compliance permit and plan experience.

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) license or Geologist-in-Training certification (GIT), or a plan to pursue them, is a plus but is not required.

  • Strong communication, problem solving and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment where you handle multiple project assignments and meet strict deadlines.

  • Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel up to 50% - ability to mobilize to a site with little notice may be occasionally required.

  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required, proficiency with ArcGIS and Microsoft Access is a plus.
