Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening a Staff System Test Engineer (STE)/ Flight Test Engineer (FTE) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals under the RQ-4 TRMC Test Integrated Product Team (IPT). This position will be on site and located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.
This position will require 20% domestic travel to other site locations to support the business as needed. The ideal candidate should be detail oriented, has the ability to focus on first time quality, engineering rigor, and safe and effective testing. The selected candidate will perform a variety of duties in supporting test and integration.
Essential Functions:
- Developing and maintaining flight test support materials and mission flight test profiles
- Developing and publishing test plans, flight test cards, test schedules and test procedures for air vehicle testing
- Leading test readiness reviews
- Developing and publishing test reports post ground and flight test events
- Coordinating with other organizations to ensure safe and effective execution of ground and flight test activities
- Construct, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, and maintain equipment, components, devices, or systems.
- Work from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions
- Develop and execute System level test procedures
- Operate related equipment; conduct tests and report data in prescribed format
- Perform calibration and alignment checks; make adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed.
- Prepare prescribed compounds and solutions
- Interface and present test integration and test execution results to program and test leadership at Pre and Post Test Reviews
- Work independently on assigned tasks to meet deadlines on one or more test programs
- Flexibility to support weekends, multiple shifts, and off hours on site
- Willingness to travel up to 20% in support of ground and flight test events

Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline with 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 10 years of related engineering experience, OR a PhD in STEM with 8 years of related engineering experience
- Flight Test experience: ground and flight operations, (Knowledge of test plan and test cards)
- Experience writing test reports
- Experience leading test events (ex. test conductor, test director)
- Experience testing Hardware
- Must have an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance or higher clearance, with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business need.
- Ability to support weekends, multiple shifts, and off hours on site as business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with hot bench and overall lab operations support
- USNTPS or NTPS coursework
- Unmanned aircraft test experience

Primary Level Salary Range: $161,000.00 - $241,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
