Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Staff Supplier Quality Engineer (T5) to join our Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) Integrated Product Team (IPT) within the Maritime/Land Sensors & Systems (MLSS) division. The qualified candidate will help develop and lead our supplier performance management strategy for CCA suppliers across the division (Baltimore, MD | Sykesville, MD | Annapolis, MD | Charlottesville, VA).

 

Primary Responsibilities

As a member of the CCA IPT:

  • Responsible for supplier quality risk management – implementing proactive supplier performance management strategy.

  • Develops and implements supplier quality evaluation and control systems.

  • Assures supplier process and product quality, including contractual, regulatory, and technical compliance.

  • Interfaces directly with supplier personnel and must be knowledgeable in and capable of assessing supplier manufacturing processes and procedures.

  • Conducts product and process verification activities, monitors supplier quality performance, and drives root cause corrective action (RCCA) for supplier quality issues.

  • Supports the maintenance of the approved supplier list and periodically reviews performance to determine whether suppliers should remain on the approved list.

  • Manages supplier requests for waivers, deviations, and requirement changes.

  • Keeps management apprised of supplier performance, quality status, and risks.

  • Oversees supplier management plan implementation through all program phases.

  • Actively engages in supplier evaluation, qualification, and selection as part of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) and as new procurements are required on existing programs.

  • Reviews program contracts and interfaces with Program Quality Engineering to assure proper requirements flow down to suppliers

  • Manages implementation of Supplier Quality processes, including supplier approval activities, source selection evaluations, development and execution of supplier risk assessments and mitigation plans, and supplier quality requirements development and flow-downs.

  • Drives affordability through monitoring of budget and spend.

  • Travels to suppliers as-required to achieve positive outcomes

  • Fosters a collaborative culture that sustains momentum around risk management, problem solving, and continuous improvement.

  • Serves as a strong voice for ‘Quality’ and a role model for NG Values

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or related discipline with 12+ years of relevant work experience in disciplines such as quality, supply chain, manufacturing, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or materials engineering; or Masters Degree with 10+ years of relevant work experience; or PhD with 8+ years of relevant work experience

  • Relevant work experience with Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) technology and manufacturing

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET clearance.

  • US Citizenship Required.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% CONUS.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management System certification process

  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and/or Quality Auditor (CQA)

  • Training and/or certification in IPC standards

  • Experience facilitating Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities

  • Experience auditing manufacturing processes and/or quality management systems

  • Defense industry experience, including interfacing with suppliers

  • Experience in a quality, supplier quality, or manufacturing role

  • SAP Business System experience

  • Solid written and verbal technical communication skills, including ability to brief all levels of management

  • Currently active DoD SECRET clearance, or higher

Primary Level Salary Range: $153,600.00 - $230,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
