Staff Product Applications Engineer

About the Role

Analog Devices is seeking a Product Applications Engineer in the Advanced Data Converter Platforms Group (ADG).  This group develops transceiver products from narrowband to ultra-wideband for aerospace & defense, instrumentation and communication applications such as radar, 5G, LEO satellite, and smart phone testers.  These products create a mobile, connected, and safe future.  In this position you will work directly with IC design, product engineering, software, marketing, and field applications engineers to enable customers to move fast from evaluation to prototyping with ultra-wideband transceiver designs, to ensure a positive customer experience and win new design-ins.

This position is ideal for an energetic, motivated and application minded engineer looking for new challenges in enabling customers in the cutting edge transceiver technology space. The successful candidate will join a product applications team with deep domain expertise in A/D and D/A converters, DSP, algorithms, RF, high speed interface and transceiver-based designs.



Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Technical Leadership: Serve as a technical authority for product applications, providing advanced guidance to engineering teams and mentoring junior engineers while driving technology strategy
  • Customer Technical Authority: Act as the primary technical advisor for strategic customers, addressing complex integration challenges and ensuring successful implementation of ADI's transceiver products
  • Advanced Tool Development: Lead the creation of sophisticated application tools, reference boards, and software that demonstrate product capabilities and accelerate customer adoption in challenging environments
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration Leadership: Drive and coordinate collaborative efforts across engineering, marketing, and sales organizations to streamline product development and accelerate market introduction
  • Complex Problem Resolution: Apply deep technical expertise to resolve sophisticated and novel technical challenges for strategic customers and internal teams
  • System Architecture Optimization: Develop comprehensive system-level understanding of application segments to optimize product integration and drive architectural improvements
  • Strategic Product Validation: Design and oversee advanced testing methodologies to validate product specifications, define operational boundaries, and ensure reliable performance across diverse applications
  • Competitive Strategic Analysis: Lead in-depth analysis of competitor products and technologies, providing strategic insights that drive ADI's competitive advantage and product innovation
  • Technical Knowledge Sharing: Create and deliver advanced technical documentation and training to disseminate expertise throughout the organization and customer base


Must Have Skills

  • System Level Architecture Mastery: Advanced expertise in system-level architecture with the ability to optimize integrated solutions across multiple components and subsystems for maximum performance in complex environments
  • Advanced Application Development: Demonstrated leadership in developing sophisticated application tools, reference boards, and software that effectively address complex customer challenges and showcase product capabilities
  • Strategic Cross-Disciplinary Leadership: Proven ability to build consensus and drive collaboration across engineering, marketing, and sales organizations to achieve critical business objectives
  • Expert Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical capabilities with demonstrated success resolving complex technical challenges using innovative approaches and deep domain knowledge
  • Thorough knowledge of Software and Software debug: Ability to understand software structure and implement test and debug software to facilitate resolution of customer issues.
  • Deep Technical Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of analog and mixed-signal semiconductor products and their applications, with specialized expertise in specific product lines or technology domains
  • Strategic Competitive Intelligence: Advanced ability to evaluate competing products and technologies, identifying strategic advantages and providing actionable insights to maintain market leadership
  • Technical Communication Leadership: Exceptional ability to articulate complex technical concepts through documentation, presentations, and customer engagement with both technical and non-technical audiences


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field; Master's degree preferred
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in product applications engineering, customer technical support, or related roles
  • Demonstrated expertise with analog and mixed-signal semiconductor products
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical projects
