Position Overview
Insulet offers a fast-paced, collaborative environment where team members develop innovative, customer-centric drug delivery products that improve the lives of people with chronic conditions. We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Staff Electronics Engineer to lead sustaining engineering efforts at our manufacturing facility.
This individual will be a key contributor on the Lifecycle Engineering team, responsible for supporting the design, development, testing, and manufacturing of electronics in low-power, RF-controlled wearable medical devices. Success in this role requires strong troubleshooting abilities, a proactive mindset, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Lead root cause analysis for design and manufacturing issues at the PCB/PCBA and system level
Collaborate on the design, development, testing, and transfer of products to manufacturing
Create schematics and PCB layouts; manage prototype fabrication and assembly with external vendors
Investigate PCB/PCBA quality concerns and work with contract manufacturers to drive improvements
Perform hands-on lab measurements and circuit analysis to diagnose and resolve issues
Develop a deep understanding of PCBA manufacturing processes and propose enhancements to improve manufacturability and test coverage (ICT, functional testing, flash programming, etc.)
Serve as the on-site R&D representative supporting the product manufacturing line
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with 7+ years of relevant experience, or
Master’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design and analysis
Familiarity with wireless communication protocols (e.g., Bluetooth Low Energy)
Strong verbal and written communication skills; detail-oriented and self-directed
Experience developing test protocols and technical reports
Skilled in lab equipment: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, etc.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with engineering tools: Cadence OrCAD, PCB Editor, MATLAB, MathCAD, Minitab
Programming experience in C/C++, Python, and MATLAB is highly desirable
Demonstrated ethical, responsible, and data-driven decision-making approach
Medical devices or wearable device industry experience is a big plus.
Travel Requirement
Required to travel to the US or to over Insulet locations several times a year.
