What is the opportunity?

RBC’s Borealis are looking to expand our data ingestion platform team. You’ll be working as part of a team to build automation solutions for data ingestion from various sources into internal and external data lakes for terabytes of data.

What will you do?

  • Work within an Agile product team to design, develop and maintain data ingestion flows and evolve the platform to orchestrate them.

  • Contribute towards the creation of intuitive, robust, and reusable back-end components using modern frameworks.

  • Gather functional requirements and translate them into technical specifications. This includes interfacing with other engineers, project managers,

  • business analysts and end users.

  • Collaborate with other team members on resolving technical issues, improving current products and developing new features.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Be a creative problem solver that can develop a plan, take ownership and deliver solutions

  • A team player, technical advocate, keen to detail out and share ideas with your team

  • An exceptional communicator able to articulate technical issues in plain language

  • You keep up to date on back-end development trends

  • Understand web/application security and the importance of data privacy

  • Bring new ideas and solutions to the team to help solve our challenges

Must-Have:

  • Extensive experience with Scala programming language

  • Experience with Big Data technologies used for ETL: Spark, Yarn, Hive, Hadoop

  • Experience building microservices with programming languages: Python, Java

  • Experience with relational databases: Postgres, MySQL or SQL Server

  • Experience with at least one web application frameworks, like: FastAPI, Flask, SpringBoot

  • Experience with building/using REST APIs and designing microservices

  • Basic development experience on Front-end with at least one framework out of: Angular, Vue, React

  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes/Containers

  • Experience with workflow management tools like: Apache Airflow

Nice To Have:

  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools - Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Automated Testing tools, Git, or similar tools.

  • ETL experience involving Snowflake

  • ETL experience involving DBT
