The Role

We are seeking an experienced security professional to establish and lead our Insider Threat presence in Bengaluru, Okta’s largest office outside of the US. This is a critical "boots on the ground" role; as one of the first members of the Security team in the region, you will act as a primary point of contact for security issues and a cultural ambassador for the security organization.

While your primary focus will be on the detection, investigation, and mitigation of insider risks, the unique nature of this position requires a broad scope. You will drive security initiatives, conduct briefings, and lead outreach programs to build a strong security culture in a rapidly growing office. You will work closely with internal stakeholders across HR, Legal, IT, and Engineering to identify potential insider risk and recommend proactive measures to safeguard our people, assets, and reputation.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Insider Threat in Okta’s Security team.

Core responsibilities include:

Insider Threat Operations & Investigations

  • Incident Investigation & Response: Assist complex investigations into potential insider threat activity, including data exfiltration, policy violations, and workplace concerns.
  • Regional Resilience Assessment: Analyze regional workforce dynamics and trends to identify opportunities to improve security controls and processes.
  • Triage & Analysis: Act as the first point of contact for insider threat alerts and escalations.

Security Culture & Outreach

  • Regional Security Advocate: Serve as the face of the Insider Threat program in Bengaluru, fostering trust and open communication with the local workforce.
  • Training & Briefings: Design and deliver tailored security briefings, training, and awareness workshops to educate employees on insider threat risks and reporting channels.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with local leadership in HR, Legal, and IT to integrate security processes into the regional workflow.

Program Development

  • Policy Localization: Help adapt global insider threat-relevant policies and procedures to ensure they are effective and compliant within the local cultural and legal context.
  • Feedback Loop: Act as a bridge between the Bengaluru office and the global Security team, providing insights on local sentiment and emerging risks.

Requirements

  • Relevant Experience: Overall 8+ years of experience with minimum of 5-6 years of experience in insider threat management, corporate investigations, counterintelligence, or risk management.
  • Independence: Proven ability to work independently and achieve outcomes with limited direct supervision (essential for this remote-reporting role).
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to distill complex risk topics for diverse audiences, from junior engineers to senior leadership.
  • Investigation Skills: Strong history of conducting end-to-end investigations, including interviewing, and report writing.
  • Integrity: Unquestionable integrity and ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Collaboration: Experience partnering with cross-functional teams (HR, Legal, Privacy) to resolve complex personnel issues.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience working in a high-growth technology or SaaS environment.
  • Familiarity with India’s corporate security landscape and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with tools to support investigations, such as SIEMs and/or OSINT toolsets.
