Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Aeronautical Engineer with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) expertise to join our Aeronautic Systems Flight Sciences and Vehicle Engineering team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Southern California at our El Segundo and Redondo Beach Facilities. Our team works with experienced engineers, supporting sophisticated analysis of aeronautic flight vehicles. We engineer the latest military aircraft. Responsibilities:
• Serve as Lead CFD engineer for store separation design and analysis, and aero-propulsion analysis for multiple programs
• Coordinate across disciplines, including: Configuration, Aerodynamics, Mass Properties, test engineering, weapons integration teams
• Liaison with Internal and External Customers/Vendors
• Generate detailed complex meshes appropriate for moving geometry analysis (Structured and Unstructured).
• Run simulations (Prescribe motion and fill 6DOF).
• Post-process result (Images, Movies, Quantitative data), prepare and present finding to team and upper level management.
• Provide insight and interpretation of flow features, issues impacting design, and design improvement recommendations. Lead and coordinate design trade studies as needed.

We are part of the analysis engineering organization, and work closely with the Flight Sciences and Vehicle Engineering organization, research & development engineers to provide state-of-the-art solutions to the most engaging problems. We are currently supporting both unclassified and classified programs.
We work a 9/80 work week, which gives us every other Friday off to pursue passions outside the office. Basic Qualifications for Staff Aeronautical Engineer:
Bachelor’s of Science in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) field and 12 Years with Bachelors in Science; 10 Years with Masters; or 8 Years with PhD of applicable engineering experience
Must have an active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Education).
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
Knowledge of or industry experience with safe store separation CFD analysis
Knowledge of or experience with fluid flow analysis
Knowledge of or experience Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis software, pre-processing software and post processing software
Experience as a CFD technical lead
