Job Description

Ameriprise has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Auditor to join our team! As a Staff Auditor, you’ll support the planning and execution of audit and compliance activities, including SOX, MAR, and FDICIA, while learning how risk and controls operate across the business. You’ll help evaluate processes, identify control gaps, assess risk exposure, and contribute practical, cost‑effective recommendations. Working closely with experienced auditors and business partners, you’ll gain exposure to presenting findings and results to management and build a strong foundation in risk management, controls, and governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute portions of the Risk & Control Services plan, including audit activities and SOX/MAR/FDICIA compliance activities. Present objectives and results to various levels of management. Execute on a structured approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes.

  • Identify control deficiencies, assess exposure and significance, and propose cost effective recommendations.

  • Monitor and validate Management Action Plan status and recommend closure of Management Action

  • Plans when actions are complete and identified deficiencies have been addressed.

  • Coordinate with appropriate control groups in planning and executing assigned work. Complete work within established timelines. Proactively communicate/escalate challenges and roadblocks that impact ability to meet established timelines.

  • Gather information and provide input into risk assessments in conformance with department standards.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • 0-1 year of experience

  • Strong communication skills

  • Availability to travel

  • Develop and practice basic audit skills and business knowledge


Preferred Qualifications

  • Accounting or Finance degree

  • CIA, CPA, CISA

Our employees work in the office at least four (4) days per week, with flexibility to work from home one (1) day per week. Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $62,300 - $85,700/ year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
