Analytics at Decathlon
About 200 skilled professionals work in our Analytics functions: Analytics Engineering (AE), Data Analytics (DA) and BI Engineering (BIE). They take the refined data from the Core data products generated by the Data Engineers as input. They process this data, then productionalize dashboards in Tableau and deliver insights to drive business decisions.
Those teams are split in the 3 main business verticals of the company:
- Supply Chain (transport, logistics, assortment planning, industry)
- Omnicommerce & customer (includes ecommerce, circularity and stores)
- Sports (conception of products)
- Corporate Operations, BCP
We also work regularly with 20 data teams in countries.
Job Description: Staff Engineer for Analytics
The Analytics Center of Excellence is a gathering of Analytics experts:
- Bruno Verissimo, Martin Lang, Hugo Hauraix, Johan Huvelin, as experts full stack analytics supporting one of the business verticals
- the Core Data Mart team, led by Benjamin Joyen
- and the manager, Hugo Palmer (former staff).
We share our time between:
- Working together as a team to create new technical standards, review and POC new technologies, define and drive adoption of good practices. We are currently under an active development phase of insight-all-metrics, a Github repository that feeds downstream users (Github repository).
- Supporting the analytics teams above-mentioned to provide expertise on technical topics linked to our stack and to advanced analytics. This open position is about supporting hand-in-hand one of the three main business verticals, to be determined during the recruitment process and wishes of your future colleagues.
As a Staff Engineer for Analytics, you will act as a full-stack analytics expert supporting other Analytics teammates. You will play a pivotal role in implementing our new federated, domain-driven operating model. You will ensure our data foundation is robust enough to support the progressive shift from traditional reporting to AI-driven insights. You will facilitate the integration of GenAI tools like Tableau Pulse for proactive alerting and Databricks Genie for conversational analytics, allowing stakeholders to move from asking "what happened" to understanding "why it happened" and “alert me if a KPI changes significantly”.

YOUR RESPONSABILITIES
- Building the Federated Semantic Layer insight-all-metrics. You will empower Domains data teams to share their KPIs, and contribute to improving the technical standards. You will leverage Databricks Metric Views and the Unity Catalog migration to centralize KPI definitions.
- You will support a Data domain or Unit and a Country data team: Lead the technical analytics practice of your business domains.
- Technical and methodological training
- Community engagement and animation
- Evolution of standards in collaboration with the Data Platform team
- Implementation of self-evaluation grids
- Assessment of skills
- Conducting architecture reviews and peer code reviews
- Proactively suggest improvements to the data stack based on your past experiences
- Day to day support to the teams
- Support to the recruitment process of your future teammates
YOUR CONTRIBUTION
- Several technical skills are required for this position: Analytics Engineering / Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Data visualization & dashboarding. You should be an expert in at least one of those domains, and have significant experience in others.
- As the Analytics Engineering practice is the most recent of the 3 positions we support, we request hands-on experience on our Analytics Engineering tool, DBT.
- You should be able to articulate tech and business together. You have a deep understanding of at least one business pillar (marketing, sales, finance, human resources, stock management…).
- Analyzing data and information to support arguments for convincing others of the value of ideas

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.
- 6-7 years of experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, computer science or related fields
- Please share in your application any significant contribution you have in the Data community; for example Slack groups animation, articles, open source projects, talks in conferences, or Social Network publications.
- Fluent in English.
