Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant role focuses on sales/accommodations tax filings, bank reconciliations, and cross-team accounting support. This position reports to a Divisional Controller.

 

Work location: In office with possible hybrid schedule

What you have  

• 2-year college degree in accounting or related major and 3+ years of equivalent work experience

• Previous tax experience preferred

• Knowledge of general ledger and month end financial period close a plus

• Must be well-rounded in accounts receivable Previous experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, etc

• Must be proficient in Microsoft excel

• Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Must be able to interact patiently, tactfully, and diplomatically with internal and external teams

What you’ll do  

• Overall ownership of sales/accommodations taxes for multiple states & counties

• Ensure compliance by maintaining business licenses up to date

• Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring proper account allocation

• Perform monthly reconciliations of all assigned balance sheet accounts including bank reconciliation and general banking functions

• Demonstrate the ability to proactively identify problems by doing basic G/L research and generate solutions

• Ensure all required deadlines are met

• Assist with overall support and back up for the accounting team as well as supporting operations as needed
