Staff Accountant – JLL

What this job involves:

As a Staff Accountant at JLL, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of our diverse real estate portfolio by performing essential accounting functions that support our clients' property management operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting expertise within the commercial real estate industry while working with a global leader in property services. You'll be responsible for executing month-end close procedures, managing financial reporting, and ensuring accurate record-keeping that enables informed business decisions across JLL's extensive client base. This virtual role provides flexibility while offering meaningful career development within our collaborative finance and accounting team.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Execute month-end and year-end closing activities including balance sheet reconciliations, cash account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements for assigned property portfolios
  • Prepare comprehensive monthly financial packages and submit them to the Finance & Accounting Manager within established deadlines to ensure timely reporting cycles
  • Perform detailed bank statement reconciliations on a monthly basis, following up on outstanding checks and resolving reconciling items to maintain accurate cash positions
  • Process client invoicing and vendor payments for designated facility groups while ensuring proper documentation and approval workflows
  • Prepare and document journal entries, track accruals, and maintain supporting documentation to ensure audit-ready financial records
  • Assist with budget preparation, forecasting activities, and management fee calculations to support strategic planning initiatives
  • Monitor cash management activities for assigned properties and ensure compliance with JLL Internal Audit standards and Client Accounting Services SAS 70 requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited institution
  • 0-2 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in corporate finance, public accounting, or real estate environments
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel including advanced functions, pivot tables, and financial modeling capabilities
  • Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles, month-end close processes, and financial statement preparation
  • Excellent attention to detail with demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy in high-volume transaction environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to interact professionally with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently in a virtual environment while meeting strict deadlines and managing multiple priorities simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of property management accounting principles and commercial real estate industry practices
  • Experience with accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks, Yardi, MRI, or similar property management systems
  • Familiarity with financial analysis techniques and variance analysis for budget-to-actual comparisons
  • Basic understanding of cash flow management principles and working capital optimization
  • Previous experience in client service environments with demonstrated customer service orientation
  • CPA certification progress or intent to pursue professional accounting credentials
  • Exposure to SAS 70/SOC 1 compliance requirements and internal control frameworks
