Staff Accountant

As a Staff Accountant at Everlaw, you’ll play a critical role in our daily financial operations. The primary focus of this position is on maintaining the integrity of our cash and accounts payable cycles. You will bring your experience with high-volume transactions and keen attention to detail to ensure our daily and month-end processes run smoothly

You’ll report to the Senior Accounting Manager and work closely with the GL accounting team. You will set your own bar, expanding your accounting skills while directly contributing to our team's success and our mission to promote justice by illuminating truth.

This is a full-time non-exempt position based in our Oakland, California office with a hybrid work schedule: in office M/W/Th with the option to work from home Tu/Fr.

In your role, you'll...

  • Manage High-Volume Cash Operations: Perform daily cash application for all incoming customer payments and manage cash reconciliation for all operating accounts across both US and UK entities.
  • Drive Accounts Payable: Process approximately 200 AP invoices per month, ensuring alignment with Everlaw’s procurement process. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the review and approval of employee expense reports checking for accuracy and policy compliance.
  • Execute Month-End Close: Finalize all cash reconciliations, prepare reconciliation schedules, post accruals, and provide flux commentary.
  • Maintain Financial Records: Book all cash-related journal entries and collaborate cross-functionally to gather necessary support for transactions.
  • Improve Processes: While comfortable with repetitive day-to-day tasks, you will actively contribute to team-wide initiatives around process improvement, automation, and efficiency gains.
  • Support the Team: Perform other accounting and financial duties as requested from time to time by the Senior Accounting Manager.

About you

  • Experience: You have at least 3 years of experience in an accounting role, with specific expertise in high volume reconciliations.
  • Operational Mindset: You are comfortable executing daily tasks with high accuracy and utilize your prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
  • Detail-Oriented & Proactive: Uphold data integrity by looking beyond the process—proactively identifying, investigating, and resolving irregularities.
  • Process Oriented: You thrive in a process-driven work environment and look for ways to make workflows more efficient.

Pluses

  • You have experience in Google sheets and Microsoft Excel.
  • You have experience working in a startup environment.
  • Experience with Netsuite, Zip, or Celigo’s Cash Application Module

Work Authorization

  • You are authorized to work in the United States. Please note that currently, Everlaw is not sponsoring employment visas for this role.

Benefits

  • The expected hourly rate for this role is between $42.79 - $53.85, or $89,000 - $112,000 on an annualized basis. The final offered salary will be dependent upon many factors including the candidate’s experience and skills. The base pay range is subject to change in the future.
