Staff Accountant

The Accountant I is responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions. In addition to this, the Accountant I is responsible for the correspondence and coordination with the insurance company management and state regulators.

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team.

 Key Responsibilities

· Process incoming payments and reconcile premium transactions across multiple systems

· Investigate and resolve discrepancies in premium billing, collections, and remittances

· Generate and maintain aging reports, collection summaries, and payment forecasts

· Assist with month-end and quarter-end closing activities related to premium receivables

· Collaborate with underwriting, claims, and customer service teams to resolve account issues

· Process premium payments, client refunds and vendor invoices

· Maintain accurate client records in compliance with regulatory standards

· Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and account analyses

· Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives within the AR/AP functions

· Perform other ad-hock duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • 3 -5 years of experience in accounts receivable/payable management, preferably within the insurance and/or reinsurance industry
  • Strong understanding of insurance/reinsurance premium billing cycles, commission structures, and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in financial systems or insurance-specific platforms
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills
