Who We Are

Sponsored Research Services (SRS) is a consortium of research administrators supporting Texas A&M University System members. We provide efficient and superior research administration services to members of The Texas A&M University System in Brazos County, Galveston and Qatar. SRS teams work with stakeholders to provide expertise and assistance with proposal submissions, in negotiation of external contracts, and in project administration throughout the life of the award. What We Want

The SRS Research Administrator I Post-Award, is responsible for coordinating routine administrative and financial details between Texas A&M University, researchers, sponsors and administrative offices with an emphasis on post-award administration of sponsored research projects; and reviewing and interpreting award terms and conditions, cost sharing requirements, award budget, sponsor regulations, deliverable requirements and System policies.

Salary: $50,000/annually

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • No prior experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.

  • Experience in sponsored research projects management and/or accounting.

  • Experience within the A&M System or other university setting.

  • Experience interpreting and monitoring compliance with federal regulations, including OMB Circulars and Code of Federal Regulations, as they pertain to sponsored research.

  • Progressively responsible budgeting and/or project administration experience

  • Strong mathematical and comprehension skills.

  • Advanced experience using Word, Excel and FAMIS, and/or Maestro.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical capabilities with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, proofreading and time management skills.

  • Ability to apply problem-solving skills to complex problems, prioritize and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Responsibilities

  • Project Coordination - Independently serves as the point of contact for faculty, sponsors and department administrators on a portfolio of routine or non-routine projects. Works to determine solutions to issues associated with sponsored projects. Coordinates administrative and financial details with researchers, department heads, deans and other university staff with an emphasis on post-award administration of sponsored projects. Interprets/communicates award documents, sponsor regulations, federal, and state laws/regulations, System policies and member rules for/to researches and departmental staff. Contacts sponsors for revisions and approvals, which include budget revisions, compliance issues, change of Principal Investigator, time extensions, additional funds requests, etc.  

  • Financial Review, Approval & Reporting - Approves financial commitments for compliance to sponsor guidelines on behalf of the member. Researches regulations to provide financial and regulatory guidance on non-standard or complex issues to researchers, departments, and administrative offices. Provides financial data, as requested, to researchers, departments, members, sponsors and auditors. Monitors cost sharing committed to sponsor. 

  • Award Establishment & Monitoring - Prepares documentation and enters award terms and other financial information into the A&M System accounting and research administration systems which includes budget, revenue, billing requirements, Facilities and Administrative cost rates, cost-sharing commitments, compliance regulations and reporting requirements.

  • Financial Close-out - Initiates financial close-out of sponsored research projects according to sponsor guidelines.
