Job Description:

What if your expertise could help reinvent the digital experiences that Customers rely on throughout their Southwest journey? The Sr UX Designer supports the Digital Design & Research Team by creating and elevating user experiences across Customer and Employee-facing digital products while collaborating with Product, Technology, agency partners, and Executives. They’ll use research, testing, empathy, and accessibility principles to design intuitive, modern, and hospitable digital solutions that support Southwest’s transformation and optimize both customer experience and business outcomes. Through creative problem‑solving, cross‑functional partnership, and a passion for impactful design, the Sr UX Designer is excited to help shape Southwest’s digital future and contribute to meaningful, experience‑focused work.

Responsibilities
  • Coach as Creative Lead for our User Experience Design team to ensure all proposals are technically and visually consistent with SWA brand and UX best practices
  • Oversee the digital brand style guide including reviewing projects for consistency and advocating for a consolidated approach to digital front-end experiences
  • Design impactful user experiences for Southwest Customer-facing digital channels, self-directed in executing through complex requirements
  • Execute on scalable solutions for long term success and proactively prepare for the future
  • Construct recommendations to drive Marketing strategy forward and follow through against promised timelines
  • Facilitate creative brainstorm/ideation sessions with business, design, strategy and technology while ensuring primary business and design objectives are met.
  • Define and provide direction for implementing usability studies and tests with 3rd party tools or agencies
  • Advise as a mentor to infuse knowledge of industry, design, interactive, information architecture, and e-commerce trends back to the working team
  • Align with Leader to on priorities, constructively address project work, and build personal development plans
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of design tools specializing in wire framing (ex: Figma, Axure, UX Pin, Visio, etc), visual design (ex: Sketch, Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc), and prototyping (ex: Principle, Marvel, Invision, Adobe XD, etc)
  • Knowledge of wire framing, visual design, and prototyping
  • Knowledge of best practices for web-based information architecture and design
  • Strong knowledge of usability and accessibility application and techniques
  • Skilled in working with development and understanding of HTML and CSS
  • Ability to communicate effectively by listening intently, questioning appropriately, and articulating clearly in both written and verbal formats
  • Ability to handle high volumes of work with ability to prioritize effectively and hit promised timelines
  • Ability to deliver quality work within a low-cost environment
  • Ability to demonstrate high emotional intelligence in various situations dealing with both Customers and fellow Employees

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:

    • Digital Experience Design

    • User Experience Design

    • Digital marketing

  • Preferred: Experience with Figma as a design tool. 

  • Preferred Experience in an agile work environment. 

  • Preferred: Knowledge of leading design thinking workshops.

  • Preferred: Stakeholder management skills.

  • Preferred: Experience using AI tools to validate design direction and expedite the discovery process.

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time

  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $103,750 - $115,300* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
