Job Summary:

The Sr. Technical Writer is responsible for developing clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation to support internal and external CTS customers, with a focus on Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables. This position collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs) and project teams to ensure all materials meet contractual, customer, and business standards. The Sr. Technical Writer applies established documentation methods while contributing to process improvements and maintaining consistency across all deliverables. This role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

·Content Development:

  • Collaborate with SMEs and engineering teams to gather technical information and create accurate, customer-facing documentation in support of critical projects.
  • Develop and update CDRL and other technical documents to ensure compliance with customer specifications and internal standards.
  • Ensure content organization, formatting, and presentation are clear, consistent, and aligned with established templates and style guides.
  • Use Jira and other project tracking tools to manage documentation tasks, updates, and delivery timelines.
  • Editing, Publishing & Distribution:
    • Edit, format, and proofread technical materials to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency across documents.
    • Apply company documentation standards, style guidelines, and content management best practices.
    • Coordinate document publishing and distribution with data management teams to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
    • Maintain version control and ensure traceability of documentation revisions.

  • Process Improvement & Compliance:
    • Gather feedback from internal stakeholders and customers to enhance the quality, usability, and presentation of technical documentation.
    • Contribute to the development and refinement of templates, tools, and processes to improve documentation efficiency.
    • Support the continuous improvement of documentation guidelines and compliance with ISO and other applicable standards.
    • Participate in peer reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions to promote consistency and best practices across writing teams.

  • Project & Risk Management:
    • Estimate effort and timelines for documentation tasks and communicate progress to project leads.
    • Identify potential risks or gaps in documentation and work with cross-functional teams to address them.
    • Support additional documentation initiatives or special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in technical writing, editing, or documentation development with a focus on CDRL documentation. Knowledge of transportation industry is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and desktop publishing or documentation tools.
  • Experience with ISO requirements and document control processes preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to convert files between different formats.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to build productive relationships across teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain detailed records in databases or spreadsheets.

Cubic Pay Range:

$45.00 - $50.00 + benefits.
