Role Objective
The Senior Tech Operative is responsible for controlling inventory stock within the business and managing the flow of materials and components into and out of stores, supporting both internal departments and external customers. This includes goods receiving, inventory management, and shipping activities.
The role supports the Tech Staff Operative to ensure all operational processes and shipments meet customer expectations in terms of safety, quality, and delivery. The Senior Tech Operative must also be capable of working independently when required, ensuring continuity of operations during absences such as sickness or holidays.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Logistics Tasks
- Operate and maintain MRP (E1) systems effectively
- Perform physical inventory accounting and reporting through cycle counting
- Manage excess and obsolete stock both physically and within the MRP (E1) system, in line with accounting procedures
- Maintain high levels of stock accuracy within the MRP (E1) system
- Issue parts and materials against sales orders using correct procedures
- Conduct visual inspections, counting, and verification of incoming materials and components
- Pack shipments in accordance with standard work procedures
- Process shipments for internal and external customers using MRP (E1) systems
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the work area
- Carry out general administrative duties, including documentation and filing
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and health & safety programs
Core Operational Duties
- Plan and prioritise workloads to meet customer demand and agreed service levels
- Execute daily operational plans across warehouse and distribution functions and shifts
- Ensure all tasks are completed in line with established standard work processes
Preferred Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders
- Results-driven mindset with a solid understanding of business and operational processes
- Excellent organisational and planning abilities, capable of managing multiple priorities
- Proficient in MRP systems (E1), with the ability to accurately maintain and analyse system data
- Good IT skills, including effective use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
