Sr Systems Administrator

General Summary 

The Sr Systems Administrator works in a fast-paced production environment, helping LAIKA’s artists leverage a wide array of technology to create animated feature films. As a senior member of the Systems Support team, this position works collaboratively with technical and production teams to research, develop, and support technology initiatives for the studio’s business operations and production needs. 

Job Functions 

  • Support desktop and mobile devices,peripherals, and applications including top-tier escalations and executive support when needed.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts in coordination with users, technical staff, and outside vendors.
  • Provide technical leadership for production and business applications.
  • Work with technical development teams to document, test, and deploy new applications.
  • Prioritize support requests and escalate issues as needed.
  • Foster ongoing dialog with departments on their use of technology.
  • Monitor system configurations, performance, and resource utilization.
  • Develop automation tools to improve efficiency and increase reliability.
  • Train, mentor, and guide the work of junior systems administration staff. 

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years’ experience supporting Linux, Mac, and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience working with desktop virtualization technologies preferred.
  • Experience working with Active Directory or LDAP infrastructure preferred.
  • Experience with automation tools such as imaging, configuration management, etc.  
  • Solid understanding of Unix, networking, and hardware fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of visual effects concepts and applications preferred.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Ruby, Python) preferred.
  • Experience with MDMs such as Intune and JAMF as well as experience with Azure AD, Office 365, and Exchange preferred.
  • Well organized with strong planning, problem solving, documentation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces (e.g., data centers and closets).
  • Thrive in a deadline driven environment and remain calm under pressure.
