Job Summary:
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing many core aspects of the supplier quality system at Teledyne FLIR’s Billerica facility and is the primary quality interface between the company its supply chain.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage supplier quality related communications between the company and its supply base.
- Utilize various problem-solving techniques to assist suppliers with root cause analysis investigations and issue Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).
- Utilize supplier scorecards to assess individual supplier performance and develop improvement plans for suppliers with unsatisfactory ratings.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all quality provisions are properly flowed down to the supply base.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team on design-for-manufacturability and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the dispositioning process for non-conforming material in MRB and notifying supplier(s) accordingly.
- Coordinate First Article Inspection (FAI) activities with suppliers and review / approve FAI paperwork.
- Coordinate with multiple internal departments to ensure that supplier quality concerns are documented and addressed in a timely manner.
- Conduct reviews of Engineering Change Notices (ECOs) to assess potential supplier impact.
- Conduct supplier audits and present audit findings to senior management.
- Perform material source inspection at supplier sites as deemed necessary.
- Provide supplier quality representation at daily production meetings.
- Support critical incoming inspection related functions, such as:
- Creating, maintaining, and updating SAP inspection plans / related workflows.
- Generating SAP inspection reports.
- Defining and documenting part inspection criteria.
- Assisting incoming quality control inspectors with daily job functions.
- Performing other miscellaneous supplier quality related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering related discipline and minimum 6-8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, or an advanced degree in an engineering related discipline and minimum 4-6+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of QA related functions within SAP.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements.
- Working knowledge of inspection methodologies, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to solve complex non-conformances via root cause analysis.
- Ability to read / understand design drawings and engineering schematics.
- Ability to create formal presentations.
- Ability to effectively communicate issues both internally and externally.
- Flexibility to travel up to 15-25%.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous working experience in a defense/aerospace, automotive, medical device, and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma practices.
- Working knowledge of Gage R&R studies and measurement system analysis.
- Working knowledge of SPC methodologies (including statistical analysis applications such as Minitab).
- Working knowledge of FMEA methodologies.
- Working knowledge of GD&T principles.
- Working knowledge of (or certifications to) IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001, and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.

Salary Range:
$96,200.00-$128,300.000
