Department Overview

The Product Engineering area is responsible for designing, writing, testing and deploying the code for our software products at Motorola Solutions. The area consists of front-end only developers, backend-only developers, full-stack developers, test automation developers, and quality analysts. Developers and analysts are grouped in to sprint teams of about 5 people, which focus on different aspects of the product. We run an Agile methodology and have adopted best practice processes and frameworks to ensure that the product is high-performing, secure and scalable.


Job Description

About the Role
Join Motorola Solutions as a Senior or Staff Software Engineer and contribute to platforms that make a real difference in public safety. You'll work with a collaborative team of approximately 5 engineers building, testing, and maintaining systems that help schools, hospitals, corporates, police forces, and entire states keep their communities safe and informed.

This is a remote-first position based in Brazil, with occasional travel to São Paulo for team events. You'll have the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to mission-critical systems used by customers worldwide.

Tech Stack
You'll work with a modern, cloud-native technology stack:

Backend:

  • TypeScript (compiled to JavaScript) running on NodeJS

  • Serverless architecture using AWS Lambda

  • AWS services: DynamoDB, OpenSearch, SQS, S3

Frontend:

  • Flexible framework approach: Angular, React, or vanilla JavaScript

  • Micro-frontends and web components architecture

  • Building embeddable code snippets and modular, reusable components

Development Practices:

  • AI-assisted development with tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot

  • Serverless-first architecture

  • Cloud-native deployment patterns on AWS

  • Modern testing and quality practices

What You'll Work On

  • Design and build features for platforms used internally and by external customers

  • Develop both backend services and frontend components across our tech stack

  • Implement serverless architectures using AWS Lambda and related services

  • Create micro-frontends and embeddable web components

  • Leverage AI-assisted coding tools to increase productivity and code quality

  • Collaborate closely with a small, high-performing team

  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction

  • Ensure code quality through testing and peer review


Basic Requirements

Skills & Experience
We're looking for engineers who are proficient in our tech stack, or have equivalent experience that demonstrates they can get up to speed quickly. You should be:

  • Full-stack capable: Comfortable working across backend and frontend technologies

  • Cloud-native minded: Experienced with serverless architectures and modern cloud platforms

  • Quality focused: Strong advocate for testing, code review, and maintainable code

  • Adaptable: Quick to learn new technologies and frameworks when needed

  • Modern in approach: Embracing AI-assisted development and cutting-edge tooling

  • Collaborative: Effective communicator who thrives in small team environments

  • Impact driven: Motivated by building systems that help keep people safe


Nice to have: Experience with mapping libraries (Leaflet, MapBox, ArcGIS) or GIS concepts, but strong JavaScript/JSON skills are more important

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering (full-stack or backend-focused)

  • AND 3+ years with TypeScript or JavaScript in production environments

  • AND 3+ years with NodeJS for backend development

  • AND 2+ years with cloud platforms (AWS preferred, or equivalent experience with Azure/GCP demonstrating transferable serverless and cloud-native skills)

  • AND 2+ years with modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, or similar)

  • AND experience with RESTful APIs and microservices or serverless architectures

  • AND strong English communication skills (written and verbal) for team collaboration
