The Mission Systems (MS) Sector (MI&I) Manufacturing Integration and Infrastructure (A&I) Analytics and Insight organization is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Staff Data Engineer located in Baltimore, MD to lead the implementation of strategic operations and program execution initiatives. In support of MS multiple divisions, the individual will be responsible for developing and leading complex data engineering and data science projects. This role will be central in designing and implementing secure, scalable data infrastructure that powers critical decision-making across operations, engineering, and program management, extracting actionable insights from large datasets, collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate data into business strategies.
Responsibilities also include mentoring data engineers and data scientists in ETL workflows development and advanced modelling techniques. This individual will develop and apply advanced technical principles, theory, and concepts across the MS Sector Divisions to support strategic planning, project execution, development of operational business opportunities, to drive schedule and cost reductions while maintaining absolute quality. The individual will interact and consult regularly with MS Executive Leadership Team (ELT), Program Leadership, and supporting Functional Leadership.

Key Responsibilities
Perform all aspects of data engineering from initial data management plan and ICD development through test, implementation, and maintenance.
Optimize data collection and dissemination to existing software tools and data reduction suites.
Troubleshoot bus data collection systems and system issues.
Basic Qualifications for the Sr. Staff Data Engineer:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, data engineering, data analytics, business analytics with related field and 14 or more years of experience; OR a master’s degree and 12 or more years of related experience
• Experience to communicating effectively to all levels of an organization with the ability to translate concepts into practical applications
• Demonstrated experience using SQL programming and database management skills to architect, optimize and maintain SQL code for databases, tables, views, stored procedures and functions in MS SQL Server
• Experience with one or more of these database systems: Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite
• Demonstrated experience developing ETL and ETL workflows using a variety of older and newer ETL tools for moving data among networks, such as: Microsoft Access, SSIS, Windows Task Scheduler, batch scripts, Windows PowerShell, Python scripting, Scala, Spark, Alteryx
• Ability to obtain and maintain Active Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications for the Sr. Staff Data Engineer:
• Master’s degree in information technology, data science, industrial engineering, or related field
• Demonstrated proficiency with Python or R
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of: Lean, Six Sigma, ToC, and Scaled Agile
• Understanding of advanced descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analysis techniques and methodology
• Demonstrated working knowledge and familiarity with SAP
• Experience and/or training with cloud database tools, especially those in AWS and Azure
• Familiarity with an Oracle based data warehouse
• Demonstrated experience with analysis and visualization of data: Tableau, Power BI
Primary Level Salary Range: $184,100.00 - $276,100.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
