What FinOps Analyst contributes to Cardinal Health
 

A FinOps Analyst plays a critical role in strengthening Cardinal Health’s cloud financial operations by ensuring every dollar spent in the Cloud delivers measurable business value. Through advanced analytics, forecasting, and costoptimization strategies, the FinOps Analyst provides leaders with clear, actionable insights that drive smarter decisionmaking and maximize the return on cloud investments - transforming the cloud from a technical expense into a strategic value engine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support cloud cost optimization initiatives by analyzing usage patterns and identifying basic savings opportunities.
  • Assist in executing chargeback process and improvement
  • Prepare routine cloud spend reports, dashboards, and trend summaries with guidance from senior team members.
  • Support spend forecasting and budget tracking through data gathering, initial analysis, and report preparation.
  • Handle finance‑related operational tasks such as invoice tracking, goods receipts, and PO monitoring.
  • Coordinate with Finance teams, Cloud Champions, and Engineering groups to support cost governance activities.
  • Follow established security, governance, and financial policies when performing FinOps activities
  • Help implement cost‑efficient solutions by partnering with Cloud Engineering under direction.
  • Execute assigned tasks and small projects within expected timelines and quality standards.
  • Promote foundational FinOps concepts and help maintain documentation, policies, and procedural updates.
  • Implement policies and procedures related to cloud financial operations
  • Participate in developing cost management models and tooling improvements, with oversight.
  • Provide peer‑level support and assist junior staff when needed.

  • Able to compare proposed options and recommend solutions with support from senior team members.
  • Can apply working knowledge of FinOps principles to deliver assigned responsibilities effectively.
  • Able to work independently on well‑scoped tasks, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Can build strong working relationships with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Able to develop data modeling and analytical skills over time to support more advanced work.
  • Can learn quickly, adapt to new tools and processes, and stay current with evolving FinOps practices.

Minimum qualifications

  • At least 2 years of data analytics experience
  • At least 2 years experience with supporting either GCP or AWS or Azure cloud spend analysis
  • At least 2 years of experience in developing reports (leveraging tools like GCP Looker, PowerBI, Tableau, Excel)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of Cloud infrastructure/services 
  • Experience of managing cloud chargeback models
  • Understanding of Cloud commitment usage discounts
  • Experience of managing Cloud billing and Procurement processes (Invoice management)
  • Experience working with AI solutions
  • Certified FinOps Practitioner 
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Financial Data Analyst
