Octave is a modern behavioral health practice creating a new standard for care delivery that’s both high-quality and accessible. With in-person and virtual clinics in multiple states, the company offers evidence-based individual, couples, and family therapy, while pioneering relationships with payers to make care more affordable through insurance. By raising the bar on how care is delivered and how providers are supported, we are building a sustainable system that values equity, affordability, and effectiveness.

About the Role:

Octave is seeking a Frontend Engineer with 5+ years of experience to build engaging, scalable, and performant user interfaces for clients seeking care, providers offering care, and operational teams. You will focus on developing the frontend of our web applications using Next.js (React), collaborating closely with designers, product managers, and backend engineers. We are a small but growing team working primarily remotely, building tools that directly impact the mental health care experience.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct thorough code reviews, enforcing best practices and coding standards.
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for frontend systems.
  • Stay current with industry trends, evaluating emerging technologies for potential adoption.
  • Work closely with product managers, UX designers, and cross-functional teams to define and execute the product vision.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate frontend interfaces with REST and GraphQL APIs.
  • Mentor and guide junior frontend engineers through pairing, design/code reviews, and technical knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for live-site troubleshooting.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of frontend features, from concept to testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Independently identify technical challenges and proactively propose solutions.
  • Co-own larger projects and fully own components within your domain.
  • Ensure all frontend deliverables align with strategic objectives in the healthtech space.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years building scalable, maintainable, and performant frontend applications.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading frontend technical discussions.
  • Familiarity with integrating frontend applications with backend services via REST and GraphQL APIs.
  • Experience in a cloud-based production environment.
  • Strong experience in developing and deploying with React.
