Pay Range: $24.67 - $30.83/hr. |$51,308 - $64,135 annual compensation

A Sr. Skilled Trades Technician job is available with the City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department, Planning and Resource Management Division. This individual will complete complex construction and repair projects that ensure public safety and quality of construction in accordance with construction documents and adherence to established policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • HS Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in assigned trade
  • Four (4) years of related skilled trades experience
  • One (1) year of lead supervisory experience
  • Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Certified Playground Safety Inspection (CPSI) certification within six months of hire

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License

The Sr. Skilled Trades Technician job responsibilities include: 

  • Perform general park construction duties throughout the City’s park system, including but not limited to minor concrete repairs, small concrete capital projects, assisting with general park infrastructure repairs (ie. Benches, picnic tables, playgrounds, shelters, etc.), assist in preparing assigned facility or building for special events, apply paint with sprayer or with brush, perform roofing work, alteration and repair or maintenance of all types of roofs
  • Read blueprints, review and interpret plans, drawings, diagrams, specifications, and work orders
  • Maintain repair and maintenance-construction logs for equipment and facilities worked on
  • Record work orders as appropriate upon completion of projects and maintenance activities
  • Identify construction, maintenance, and repair needs for facilities and equipment
  • Provide accurate estimates for labor and materials for work
  • Demonstrate experience in the repair of existing playground equipment, the ordering of replacement materials, and repair and/or replacement of existing site furnishings (i.e. picnic tables, benches, trash cans, grills, etc.)

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

Heavy Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
