About the role

 

The Development Senior Scientist leads new product development by developing formulations, manufacturing process and/or providing analysis and evaluation of material and products at all stages of the development process, considering scientific and timing objectives. This individual would have various levels of involvement and leadership in the product design and formulation & process development of conventional and non-conventional solid, semi-solid, liquid, and other formulations for China domestic and CBEC project. 

 

Key responsibilities

·       Manages multiple projects aligned with Brand innovation strategy, leveraging technical expertise to achieve objectives.

·       Leads end-to-end project activities—from raw material development and prototyping to technical transfer—ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

·       Designs and executes state-of-the-art experiments, adapting R&D plans dynamically to meet evolving project goals.

·       Develops and implements quality and safety procedures (e.g., SOPs, batch docs, validation protocols), upholding GMP and EHS standards.

·       Continuously updates scientific knowledge and skills, identifying training needs and mentoring others in new technologies.

·       Builds collaborative relationships with cross-functional partners (MKT, Regulatory, Supply Chain, etc.) to drive innovation.

·       Engages in consumer research to inform category innovation and maintains precise data records to support scientific decisions.

·       Adapts priorities rapidly to stay focused on goals and leads problem-solving using diverse tools and available resources

 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications and skills

Essential

·       7 years (post-BS) and 4 years (post-MS) of experience in HF NPD, formulation, and process development, with solid expertise in the end-to-end development process of CH/OTC products.

·       In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements and consumer insights, with a proven track record in consumer research-driven product design, optimization, and successful CH/OTC product launches.

·       Strong communication and influencing skills within complex matrix environments, able to clearly and concisely articulate challenges and solutions in a timely manner

 

Preferred

·       MS or Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical, Nutritional, Chemical, or related science

·       Proven expertise in end-to-end product formulation and development, leveraging scientific principles and a deep understanding of R&D processes to successfully translate consumer insights into innovative wellness products—including specialized experience in coated tablet and granule manufacturing.

·       A proactive and resourceful professional with strong initiative, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across teams; skilled in applying QbD, statistical analysis, and data organization to drive structured experimentation and multitask in a commercial R&D environment.
