The University of Miami, in Miami, Florida is seeking a Sr. Research Associate 1 for the Neuromuscular Division, Department of Neurology. The incumbent will be an integral member of an active clinical and translational research group focused on therapy development for Lou Gehrig’s disease (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS) and related neurodegenerative diseases. Working closely with the principal investigators, biostatistician, and other data staff, the incumbent will provide data management support for the research program, including but not limited to the following: Develop and implement strategies for real-time data QC; Conduct routine data checks to ensure data integrity and completeness; Write SAS macros and programs for data merging, harmonization, cleaning, and reporting (e.g. tables, listings, figures); Creation of analysis datasets and associated documentation (e.g. codebook, data dictionary); Assist in the design and implementation of procedures (e.g. via programming, restructuring of data files, expansion of database components) to improve efficiency and support growth of the research program; Development and management of in-house databases and associated documentation; and Work with project managers and other team members to develop and refine data collection instruments (e.g. case report forms), and resolve data queries, among other duties. Must be able to understand and interpret research protocols and procedures; warrant that research activities comply with applicable guidelines and regulations; and adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.

Position requires a Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related analytical field. Coursework in neurology/neuroscience; statistical computing (including the use of SAS PROC SQL and SAS macros); clinical trials; relational databases; and research methods in medical/health sciences are required. SAS Advanced Certification is also required.
