How Will You Make an Impact?

As a Sr. Purification Automation Engineer, you will initiate fresh ideas and streamline operations within Thermo Fisher’s BioProduction business. Your role is pivotal in advancing our capabilities and upholding our reputation as industry frontrunners in bioproduction. Your forward-thinking proposals and expert mentorship will be essential in guiding the success and growth of Thermo Fisher’s BioProduction business.

What Will You Do?

  • Develop brand new automation solutions for industrial-scale downstream purification technologies, aiming for peak efficiency and precision.

  • Lead the development and construction of engineering skids for pilot and manufacturing scales, ensuring high performance and reliability.

  • Provide counsel on intricate sensing and process control methodologies, crafting the evolution of our automation processes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement scalable, user-friendly, and regulatory-compliant automation and control strategies.

  • Lead customer engagements, including onsite and remote demonstrations, development of joint statements of work, and technology transfer activities.

  • Apply expertise in IOQ (Installation and Operational Qualification), verification, and validation protocols to ensure robust system performance.

  • Represent Thermo Fisher as a leader at technical conferences and industry forums in downstream automation.

Education:

  • Minimum Required Education: Master’s degree in engineering or a related field

  • PhD is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in automation engineering, including proficiency in logic programming and graphics development for bioprocess downstream purification units.

  • 6+ years of relevant industry experience

  • Experience with commercial single-use chromatography apparatus or associated bioprocess purification systems

  • Experience with Emerson DeltaV or similar systems

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Skillfulness in DeltaV and connected software for logic scripting and graphical interfaces within downstream purification procedures.

  • Proven track record of effectively applying control methods for disposable systems in downstream purification.

  • Strong foundation in scientific methodology, applied mathematics, and statistics.

  • Remarkable proficiency in written and verbal communication.

  • Effective project management capabilities.

  • Willingness to travel up to 30%

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $113,500.00–$170,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
