The Senior Project Manager – Net Zero Programs leads the planning, coordination, and execution of complex sustainability and decarbonization initiatives across a client’s real estate portfolio, overseeing projects such as energy optimization, electrification, renewable integration, and carbon‑reduction programs. This role partners closely with clients, facility teams, consultants, and contractors to deliver measurable progress toward Net Zero commitments, ensuring program alignment, budget adherence, and on‑time delivery. The Senior Project Manager manages reporting, dashboards, and carbon‑tracking metrics; provides strategic recommendations based on technical and financial analysis; and ensures regulatory and sustainability compliance requirements are met. The position may supervise project managers or analysts and collaborates cross‑functionally to drive operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement in sustainability performance. Sustainability or ESG experience is strongly preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Project Manager provides program and project management expertise for Net Zero and sustainability‑focused initiatives, supporting a designated client account, property portfolio, or large facility/complex. This role leads carbon reduction, energy optimization, and sustainability program execution through close interaction with the client, property or facility management team, sustainability partners, and project management staff. Oversees and coordinates the services, workflows, and processes relating to client agreements for Net Zero program delivery, decarbonization projects, and sustainability reporting. May supervise one or more project managers, analysts, and/or support staff. Works closely with and provides detailed progress reports to the Account Manager/Director or Portfolio Manager in addition to the building/facility management team.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and develop and maintain master program budgets, carbon‑reduction models, and timelines for each Net Zero project or program phase to ensure sustainability targets and client objectives are achieved
  • Prepare and coordinate program reports, emissions dashboards, and drawing/technical reviews for clients, Account/Portfolio Manager, and property/facility teams across all phases including assessment, design, procurement, implementation, measurement, and verification
  • Assist in the selection, contracting, and oversight of engineering consultants, energy service providers, sustainability firms, and construction partners. Integrate the impact of other Project Management and C&W components—including energy management, building operations, M.E.P., and technology solutions—as they relate to decarbonization projects
  • Review requisitions, change orders, and invoices for Net Zero and sustainability programs; advise and counsel the Account/Portfolio Manager and building/facility management team regarding cost, carbon impact, and return on investment
  • Directly participate in the marketing and presentation of sustainability and Net Zero program services to clients
  • May supervise and manage the performance, development, work quality, reporting, and activities of Project Managers, Sustainability Analysts, and Project Coordinators
  • Provide all necessary documentation and reports to the client and building/facility management team, including carbon performance updates, energy benchmarking, incentive alignment, and sustainability compliance reporting
  • Cooperate with other building/facility personnel to achieve corporate and client goals related to Net Zero, sustainability performance, operational excellence, cost efficiency, and program success
  • Report to the Account/Portfolio Manager and senior building/facility manager regarding major issues, risks, results achieved, and strategic recommendations for improving carbon and sustainability performance
  • Provide appropriate documentation and obtain approvals necessary in advance of organizational changes, commitments, or expenditures beyond approved budgets
  • May be required to establish goals and objectives with timelines for Net Zero program units and sub‑teams
  • May be required to select and hire staff; delegate necessary authority and responsibility for delivery of sustainability and decarbonization initiatives
  • May be required to train, develop, motivate, and discipline subordinates as necessary to meet program and sustainability performance objectives; review and appraise work performance
  • Implement government laws and regulations related to sustainability, energy efficiency, and carbon disclosure; adhere to established regulatory rulings and client requirements

IMPORTANT EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years directly related experience in an engineering, sustainability, construction, or energy‑management project accountability role
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing sustainability, decarbonization, renewable energy, or energy‑efficiency projects, including feasibility analysis, M.E.P. coordination, and implementation from design through delivery
  • A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a project or program management capacity, with proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop employees
  • Experience with Net Zero program planning, carbon reduction strategies, ESG reporting, or sustainability frameworks (LEED, WELL, ISO 14001, SBTi, GHG Protocol) strongly preferred

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.


The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.


The compensation for the position is: $ 102,000.00 - $120,000.00
