Sr. Product Quality Engineer - Electrical

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. What You'll Do

  • Ensure electrical systems, avionics components, wiring harnesses, and electrical assemblies meet design, quality, safety, regulatory, and industry-specific requirements.
  • Work closely with electrical design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and other departments to ensure smooth product transitions from design to production. Provide technical guidance on electrical quality-related issues.
  • Support the development and roll out of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) techniques such as electrical system Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), control plans and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Lead the establishment of electrical system inspection plans
  • Conduct or support First Article Inspection (FAI) in compliance with SAE AS9102 for electrical components and systems.
  • Conduct or support Material Review Board dispositions for electrical components and nonconformances.
  • Identify, lead, and support continuous improvement initiatives for electrical manufacturing processes, including root cause analysis of electrical failures and implementation of corrective/preventative actions.
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to assess electrical system health and manufacturing process capability to drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify potential electrical risks and work with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks and develop contingency plans.
  • Develop and support the training of team members and other stakeholders on electrical quality standards, testing practices, and tools.
  • Assist in the planning and process for company inspection in support of FAA and Company conformity inspection and certification process.

What You Need

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering with at least 5+ years experience in manufacturing quality.
  • Experience creating and approving first article inspections for electrical components with working knowledge of electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, impedance analyzers, hipot testers, etc.).
  • Experience with MES systems and creating electrical inspection plans and test procedures electronically.
  • Experience with electrical CAD, PLM, and ERP software.
  • Experience with APQP for electrical components - creating PPAPs, DFM, MSAs, and SPC for electrical parameters.
  • Experience working in an electrical manufacturing environment in aerospace or other highly regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in statistical process control for electrical testing and electrical measurement systems analysis.
  • Knowledge of Quality Standards such as AS9100, AS9102, AS9103, AS9145, and electrical standards like DO-160, MIL-STD-810, IPC standards.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience creating real time electrical test dashboards using Sigma or Microsoft BI
  • Experience with conformity inspection and working with the FAA and Designees on electrical systems certification
  • Six Sigma Black/Green Belt or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer
  • Experience with electrical propulsion systems
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards, EMI/EMC testing, and high-voltage testing protocols.
  • EV/eVTOL electrical systems knowledge or experience in Aerospace electrical systems

Actual compensation offered will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
