Sr. Product Engineer - Cloud Automation

Overview

ArcGIS Enterprise is the backbone of Esri’s customers’ mission-critical operations, powering organizations around the world in the cloud and on-premises. To simplify deployment and management, Esri develops advanced automation tools that streamline installation and configuration of ArcGIS Enterprise in Kubernetes environments and across leading cloud platforms such as AWS and Microsoft Azure. The ArcGIS Enterprise team is seeking a Sr. Cloud Automation Engineer to partner closely with software developers and product engineers to ensure our automation technology is high-quality, reliable, and user focused. This role requires technical depth, strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, and a keen ability to stay ahead of fast-evolving cloud technologies while delivering practical, user-centered solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and improve the quality, scalability, and performance of Esri’s cloud and Kubernetes automation technology
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure automation aligns with customer needs, usability standards, and deployment best practices
  • Gather, analyze, and prioritize user requirements, turning them into actionable development and testing plans
  • Design and refine user experiences for automation tools, emphasizing clarity, simplicity, and maintainability
  • Document and communicate the proper use of Esri’s cloud automation technology through clear documentation, demos, presentations, and blogs
  • Stay current on emerging cloud and containerization trends to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience designing, deploying, or automating solutions in AWS and/or Azure, with deep understanding of core cloud services such as compute, networking, storage, identity, and monitoring
  • Proven experience with infrastructure automation, including architecting and maintaining automated deployments for cloud-native and containerized applications
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and support teams
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot distributed systems, APIs, and deployment pipelines
  • Proficiency in scripting or configuration management tools such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related technical field

Recommended Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related technical field
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, Chef, PowerShell DSC, or Helm
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for automated testing and deployment
  • Working knowledge of Python for automation and tooling
  • Understanding of ArcGIS Enterprise and geospatial data workflows

$92,144$153,920 USD
