DESCRIPTION:

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will support our mission to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. As part of the Digital & Data Science team within Procurement Excellence, you will play a key role in transforming data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making across our global procurement organization. This role focuses on translating data into actionable insights, identifying trends, and driving data-informed decisions across procurement.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate complex data into clear recommendations that improve performance and decision-making. You will proactively identify opportunities for cost optimization, supplier performance improvement, and process efficiency within procurement through data-driven analysis. Using your analytical mindset and business acumen, you will identify trends, opportunities, and areas for optimization while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

This role also requires curiosity and interest in emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, with an openness to explore how AI, algorithms, and predictive analytics can be applied to generate deeper insights and improve decision-making in procurement. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting data to business impact, influencing stakeholders, and driving value through insights and informed decision-making.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Advanced degree plus 3 years of experience, or bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or related role.
  • Preferred fields of study: Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or related quantitative fields.
  • Strong ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights and business recommendations.
  • Experience working with large datasets and identifying trends to support decision-making.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and familiarity with SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) to support analysis and insight generation.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and data modeling techniques.
  • Familiarity with data preparation processes and working with multiple data sources to support analysis.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to connect data insights to procurement or operational impact.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders through data-driven storytelling.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and generate insights beyond defined requests.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver insights in a fast-paced, business-driven environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across functions, levels, and teams.
  • Interest in Artificial Intelligence, algorithms, and predictive analytics, with curiosity to explore their application in business and procurement contexts.
  • Experience in procurement, supply chain, or related business functions is preferred.
  • Experience with Alteryx or similar ETL/Data Science tools is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Python, R, or other programming languages is a plus
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) or data warehouse concepts is a plus.
  • Understanding of data governance and data quality principles is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Power BI, SQL, data analytics) are a plus.
  • Advanced English is required.
