DESCRIPTION:
As a Manufacturing Engineer III at Thermo Fisher Scientific,
you will be accountable for proactively developing and optimizing manufacturing and testing processes:
- In New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, the role takes the lead in operations and Product support Engineering (PSE) to support new product transfer.
- Systematically addressing quality issues to ensure the on-time delivery of products that adhere to stringent quality standards.
- Driving continuous improvement in production efficiency and manufacturing cost optimization through Production Process Improvement (PPI).
And the key responsibility is as below:
- Lead new product introduction or transfer projects from the engineering stream, collaborating with cross-functional project teams and global counterparts to complete engineering-related tasks on schedule, ensuring the successful establishment of new product manufacturing processes at China sites.
- Oversee technical knowledge transfer through accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) setup, work instruction development, and facilitation of operator skill qualification training.
- Design assembly/test fixtures and provide technical support for fixture maintenance.
- Deliver comprehensive technical support for all product-related matters, including customer quality issue resolution, production line troubleshooting, and engineering change validation and implementation.
- Collaborate with sourcing, quality, and procurement teams to ensure on-time delivery and cost reduction. Evaluate defects in localized electronic and mechanical components, and support suppliers in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Support alternative component qualification activities.
- Conduct training for production line operators to ensure they understand product specifications and perform manufacturing operations efficiently and correctly.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for products, assembly, and testing processes to enhance manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Major in Mechanical/Process Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Product Support Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer.
- Minimum 3 years of working experience in a multinational factory; experience in the instrument field (e.g., centrifuge, incubator, refrigerator) is preferred.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software tools, including SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.
- Knowledge of sheet metal processing is a plus.
- Fluent in oral and written English; relevant English certifications are preferred.
- Working knowledge of supply chain management, lean manufacturing, sourcing, etc., is a plus.
