The Role

Reporting to the Senior Advisor of Aspen Technology Geoscience Services, the Senior Principal Consultant – Geomodeller/Geologist will be responsible for delivering geoscience services to global customers requiring geologic modelling services using best in class software adaptable to all subsurface activities.

This key role focuses on delivering geomodelling services as part of a global team, with subsurface experts in geophysics, geology, petrophysics, and reservoir engineering. As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with the customers to understand their specific challenges and provide innovative geomodelling solutions that drive overall project success. You will be providing geomodelling activities in support of velocity modeling, property modeling, pore pressure modeling, structural modeling, fracture modeling, facies modeling, stratigraphic modeling, reservoir modeling, and integrated prospect identification.

Your Impact

  • Provide geomodelling services for Aspen Tech clients located in key resource basins around the world
  • Oversee the creation, quality, and validation of geomodels created with fit-for-purpose geocellular grids using Aspen SKUA GOCAD and Aspen RMS technology
  • Manage the continuity of the geomodelling process throughout the project workflow ensuring alignment with other geoscientists, alignment with project objectives, and consistency with other data.
  • Ensure timely delivery of results and alignment with project objectives.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, presentations, and recommendations to client geoscientists and managers
  • Understand and adhere to contractual obligations and communicate potential gaps to management.
  • Develop strong relationships with Customer, building an understanding of their business needs and challenges.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Supervisor, Project Manager, and fellow geoscientists to ensure effective coordination and successful delivery of project activities.
  • Populate, distribute, and validate subsurface digital data prepared by other project geoscientists including petrophysical data, rock physics data, velocity data, etc.
  • Be capable of working on multiple geomodelling projects concurrently.
  • Output geomodels in formats defined by the customer including popular third-party formats.
  • Conduct projects through final delivery and report writing.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Geology, Computational Geology, Structural Geology or related Geoscience discipline.
  • A minimum of 15 years of industry experience as a Geomodeller and Geologist in the oil and gas industry.
  • Experience scope including velocity modelling, structural modelling and geologic restoration, well correlation and geologic mapping, fracture modelling, 3D mechanical earth modelling, reservoir modelling and updating, Uncertainty Analysis, History Matching, Development and Production Optimization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex technical issues and capability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex technical concepts to a variety of audience.
  • Ability to identify opportunities that create value for customers with a strong customer first mindset.
  • Ability to proactively take the lead in resolving complex technical issues and/or difficult organisational problems with an innovative approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and competing priorities.
  • Experience with Aspen SKUA-GOCAD, Aspen RMS, or geomodelling equivalents.
  • Travel required up to 25% of the time
