Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Systems – Systems Engineer Interface (26-018 & 26-019) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals. Based in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, these roles are essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan ballistic missile defense operations systematically, monitor the battle collectively, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations globally and regionally to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate current and future missile defense system capabilities.
The Interface Engineer will oversee the creation of ICDs and IDDs, establishing new connections between external components, such as sensors, and other Command and Control Systems. They will ensure these documents meet the program's standards. Moreover, the engineer will develop behavioral diagrams to better understand and document the requirements. They will also generate detailed requirements in DOORS to ensure the implementation teams have clear guidance.
Essential Functions:
Development and updating of multiple Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Design Documents (IDDs)
Attend interface working group meetings with the MDA customer and representatives of the assigned external element engineering organization, as well as support program integration and test-related efforts for the associated interface
Successful candidate may also be assigned to support other interface engineers in:
Developing ICDs for other BMDS Elements
Support requirements engineering
Use case development
Logical architecture modeling tasks as SE department tasking requires
Successful candidate will support spiral leadership to ensure that interface artifacts and system assessment tasks required for the assigned sensor interface are completed as required
The Interface Engineer is a Systems Engineer and will, at times, be called upon to support non-interface systems engineering activities
