Join us as a Senior PPI Business System Specialist at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where you'll implement meaningful change through our Practical Process Improvement (PPI) Business System. In this role, you'll collaborate with site and business leadership to build a culture of continuous improvement that enables profitable growth, enhances quality, and improves both customer and employee experience.

Your expertise will help enhance operations, improve efficiency, and create sustainable process improvements that directly impact our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. This position offers the opportunity to create meaningful impact by leading cross-functional initiatives and supporting a culture of continuous improvement across the organization.

A Day in the Life:

  • Participate and co-lead Kaizen workshops at the site.
  • Apply structured problem-solving methodologies to optimize processes and reduce inefficiencies.
  • Guide teams in the application of PPI tools while developing their capabilities through training and mentorship.
  • Lead capacity improvement plan called Elevate for Charlotte site to improve output and reduce scrap.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure an active pipeline of critical initiatives aligned to business priorities, metrics, and results.
  • Partner with leaders to develop, standardize, and drive operating mechanisms that support performance visibility, accountability, and action planning and continually improve business performance
  • Implement lean management systems
  • Cultivate an action-biased environment of continuous improvement to improve key performance metrics in the areas of customer, finance, people and quality.
  • Partner with/Lead site and functional teams to solve problems that improve the customer experience, enable profitable growth and enhance process efficiency.
  • Develop leaders and PPI practitioners to increase autonomy and the pace of change.
  • Coach the teams in Lean Management System (tiered daily management systems, Gemba walks, and leader standard work) and other coaching tools to transform the culture
  • Identify areas of opportunity for improvement/growth and support teams on implementation of these opportunities
  • Provides PPI Business System program support through project traceability, pipeline building and productivity tracking and reporting
  • Partner with Finance personnel to evaluate project savings estimates, validate reported PPI benefits, and ensure accurate accounting of PPI Productivity

How Will You Get Here?

Requirements:

  • Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's Degree (Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering, Science, Operations, Business or related field)
  • Experience Required: 8 years of experience implementing continuous improvement programs in manufacturing, clinical, pharmaceutical or regulated environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lean Six Sigma or Black Belt certification preferred
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification desirable
  • Experience in GMP/regulated environments preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Demonstrated expertise in lean tools including value stream mapping, 5S, standard work, visual management, and kaizen methodologies
  • Excellent financial acumen with ability to evaluate and validate project savings
  • Experience guiding and mentoring teams in continuous improvement methodologies
  • Demonstrated success in supporting organizational change
  • Strong project management skills with proven experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to connect at all organizational levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities using data-driven approaches
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across functions
  • Strong relationship-building skills with demonstrated ability to build trust
  • Ability to travel 25-50% as needed to support multiple sites
  • Fluency in English required; additional languages beneficial for international roles
