Position Summary

Leads by example within a team of manufacturing operators in a world-class manufacturing operation. Hands-on involvement in assembly/ manufacturing of Rapid product line, including Rapid Hit Cartridges, Primary Cartridges and Gel Cartridges within a cleanroom environment, working with DNA reagents according to SOPs, with due regard to product availability and integrity. This position may also involve performing quality control testing of Rapid manufactured goods. Your decisions will directly impact our ability to fulfill production schedules and the quality and integrity of our products.

Responsibilities

  • Work in ISO 7 clean rooms with Tyvek gowning and personal hood PPE. Participate in multi-stage, semi-automated assembly of Rapid Hit cartridges on a production line. Operate the CSM (Cartridge Sealing Machine) and conduct visual inspections. Support Gel cartridge, Primary cartridge, Newton house ladder cartridge, and bead cleaning activities.
  • Submit regular samples to QC with clear communication. Perform QC testing of intermediates and finished goods as needed.
  • Train and support new operators to achieve confident unsupervised proficiency.
  • Calibrate laboratory instruments and ensure timely calibration by monitoring and updating the calibration schedule for equipment in a designated area.
  • Liaise with Engineering to report and resolve breakdowns promptly, minimizing production downtime.
  • Support and align with the Company’s safety and hazardous waste management programs, including practicing safe hazardous waste handling and maintaining good housekeeping practices. Keep laboratory work areas clean, orderly, and safe. Take part in regular particle reduction cleans to uphold the ISO 7 cleanroom standards. Aid in environmental monitoring of cleanrooms (preparing/taking swabs).
  • Continuously enhance your understanding of quality and crafting concepts as they apply to all work conducted, services provided, communications, and products. Support continuous improvement initiatives and projects. Raise and handle PRs and lead/support investigations when challenges arise. Raise and manage change orders on the OCPLM system to facilitate crafting improvements and corrective actions, including updating documents and crafting new SKUs.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, meet targets, and complete necessary paperwork to GDP standards. The role involves some manual handling and requires good manual dexterity. Ability to work well independently and as part of a team. Capable of managing your workload independently within the scope of activities agreed with your supervisor.
  • Flexible approach to work with possible change of duties at short notice and willingness to learn. Possibility of shift work/overtime requirements. Ability to manage multiple priorities and to work under pressure with strict attention to deadlines and details. Excellent time management & organisational skills, Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with office equipment, including operating a computer terminal throughout the day.
  • Involvement in continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Demonstrated interest/experience in scientific and/or engineering processes.
