Sr Network Security Manager

In this role, you’ll be leading a team of security engineers responsible for securing the network and edge used by both our customers and enterprise to run the business with observability, scalability, security and capacity planning as main functions. This role will focus on overseeing the operations of maintaining our firewalls and web application firewalls as well as driving the implementation and enforcing secure solutions to solve complex and unique problems at scale in both the cloud and the enterprise. The team you’ll be leading is a talented and diverse group of engineers focused on providing a highly secure edge and network used by CWAN’s engineering teams to deliver cutting-edge features and solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day operations of team including daily standups, sprints and execution of team projects.
  • Serve as the point person to coordinate work intake and execution
  • Curate and track metrics on work execution and perimeter security defenses
  • Perform engineering tasks in support of firewall and edge services.
  • Maintain advanced security management for firewalls and perform regular audits of perimeter defenses
  • Develop firewall and WAF configurations/policies to prevent new security issues.
  • Implement network and edge solutions that empower teams to deliver secure infrastructure at scale.
  • Identify and prioritize security vulnerabilities in our environment and helping to drive remediation.
  • Drive and facilitate necessary changes to our security controls to address emerging security threats.
  • Respond to active threats to ensure appropriate security controls protect the environment with a defense in depth strategic approach
  • Owns the identification of key gaps in security and tooling functionality that will drive significant improvement in network and cloud security.
  • Prepare and deliver security reports and metrics for leadership, auditors, and regulatory purposes.
  • Foster a strong team culture with a focus on leading, mentoring, and developing a team of network security engineers.

Requirements:  

  • Experience in network security or firewall administration.
  • Experience leading technical security teams or complex security projects.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Network Security or comparable field, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
  • Experience with incident response.
  • Web application firewall management experience.
  • Understanding of security best-practices and how to implement them at an enterprise level.
  • Basic coding skills – Terraform, Python, other scripting languages.
  • Understanding of common Information Security concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Understanding of vulnerability analysis, penetration testing, encryption technologies, intrusion detection, incident response.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach engineers.
  • Experience designing and guiding network security architecture and roadmaps at scale.
  • Comfortable influencing and collaborating with stakeholders across engineering, operations, and management.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • Strong aptitude for problem solving, math, and communication.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skill.

Desired Experience or Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related area of study.
  • Experience with working within an Agile Framework, KANBAN and JIRA tooling.
  • Experience with cloud-native firewall solutions.
  • Experience with Cloudflare.
  • Experience with Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Experience with AWS or Azure public cloud platforms a plus.
  • Solid infrastructure/SRE/engineering skills.
  • SANS GIAC, CEH, CompTIA Security+, AWS or GCP security certifications.
