Position Summary

The Sr. Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting advanced enterprise network solutions with a focus on WAN connectivity, wireless mesh networks, and architectural standards. This role blends deep technical engineering with architectural influence, ensuring a resilient, scalable, and secure network foundation across geographically dispersed operations. The ideal candidate brings expertise in WAN technologies, SD WAN, routing, wireless mesh platforms, and enterprise grade infrastructure engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and optimize enterprise WAN solutions, including MPLS, broadband, LTE/5G, and SD WAN technologies.
  • Lead deployment, tuning, and optimization of wireless mesh networks, including node placement, redundancy, RF optimization, and automated failover.
  • Collaborate with network architects to shape long term strategy, standards, and reference architectures.
  • Implement and maintain routing technologies such as OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, and dynamic path selection mechanisms.
  • Support secure remote access solutions, VPN architectures, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Provide Tier 3/Tier 4 escalation support for complex WAN and wireless issues.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and provide after-hours production support for critical incidents as needed.
  • Conduct capacity planning, performance analysis, and resiliency testing across WAN and mesh environments.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, topology diagrams, and configuration standards.
  • Work with cybersecurity teams to enforce segmentation, zero trust controls, and secure networking practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to operational best practices and team capability development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position works in a comfortable office setting with a computer for a large percentage of the workday. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild. Occasional travel may be required.
This position participates in a 24x7 on-call rotation and provides after-hour production support for critical incidents as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements include a bachelor’s in computer science, information services, engineering, or a related field and 5+ years of hands on enterprise network engineering experience with a focus on WAN technology.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess

  • Strong experience with SD WAN platforms (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Aruba, etc.) and carrier grade connectivity.
  • Demonstrated experience with wireless mesh network deployment or support (Cisco, Aruba, Juniper Mist, Cambium, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of routing protocols, QoS, traffic engineering, and network high availability design.
  • Experience with cloud networking (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and modern hybrid connectivity models.
  • Familiarity with network automation, scripting, and monitoring platforms.
  • Certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent professional-level experience.
  • Experience with intent based or AI driven network management tools.
  • Exposure to OT/IoT wireless or outdoor mesh environments.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools (Ansible, Terraform) or SDN platforms.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and cross functional communication skills.
