Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 years of engineering experience with fixed equipment such as pressure vessels, boilers, piping systems providing technical advice on repair plans based on scope of work

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Candidate is registered or immediately eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) providing technical advice on repair plans based on scope of work

  • Field experience supporting Maintenance and Operations in an industrial environment

  • Technical strength and strong collaboration with client groups

Responsibilities:

  • Provide front-line support by troubleshooting emerging operations equipment issues and preparing cost-effective non-replacement in kind repair scopes of work for both onsite and offsite maintenance within the Production Unit

  • Use risk review approaches, hazard and operability studies, management of change process, and other safety checks to maintain and improve area and equipment safety and reliability performance indicators

  • Support Major Event/Turnarounds by providing technical oversight of removal/installation of equipment or components, reviewing plans and schedules, completing found work repair scopes, guidance on any deviations required for SOW, prompt response to requests for information

  • Investigate and perform root-cause analysis of failures. Ensure equipment design changes align with the engineering management systems and are evaluated for the impact on equipment reliability; lead the engineering design of minor plant and equipment modifications

  • Develop justifications, technical and efficient evaluations of major equipment changes and projects to be executed. Proficient in management of change system - utilizing risk management and technical evaluations to address risks

  • Completing fitness for service assessments and provide recommendations on repair, replace or return to service. Expected to adapt and apply stress analysis to analyze and determine asset health, remaining life
     

Location and other Key details:

  • You will work at our Base Plant site, located in Fort McMurray Alberta

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs

  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive

  • Our engineering roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will be based years of experience and scope of work

  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
