based in Denton, TX.

Reporting to Sr Manager, Engineering in Denton, TX the Sr Mechanical Engineer is responsible for  working within the manufacturing environment. Receiving direction from the Engineering Manager / Mechanical Team Leader to meet specific development and production schedules.

Primary Duties

  • Planning and prioritizing projects, including new designs and improvements to existing designs, utilizing load tracking and prioritization of team activities for on-time completion of projects.

  • Verifying the security, accuracy and completeness of all information handling procedures for files and documentation generated by the team.

  • Assuring that all designs are safe and operational while conforming to applicable standards.

  • Work with customers to define requirements and specifications. 

  • Supporting production, and service, by working very closely with all team members focusing on the customer expectations as the goal. 

  • Reviewing BOM structures of products for approval to improve departmental efficiency.

  • Following through on production issues / customer complaints / product improvement suggestions from multiple sources to improve product or team performance.

  • Support custom design requests received from customers or other departments.

  • Review and product test equipment and validation procedures.

  • Assist and approve the design of prototype equipment, 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for presentation to the customer for approval.

  • Review and approve customer specific installation drawing sets to verify information necessary for installation of large, highly technical capital machines including cutting and welding machines, conveyor systems, cutting and welding tables, crane interfaces, and air handling equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 5 years’ experience leading teams in manufacturing environments producing complex electromechanical equipment.

  • 10 years’ experience in AutoCAD and 3d CAD (SolidWorks and/or Inventor).

  • Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing techniques and processes.

  • Intermediate knowledge and experience using Microsoft applications, Office, Project and Visio.

  • Demonstrated understanding of GD&T tolerancing and ASME Y14.5 drawing standards.

  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Able to guide and train teams in technical and procedural skills and processes.

  • 5 years hands-on experience in manufacturing and field installation of equipment.

  • Demonstrate an appreciation and importance of ‘on-time’ delivery.

  • High self-motivation and team motivation for completion of projects with customer interaction on-site.

Working Conditions

  • Remains in a stationary position 50% of the time and involves additional physical demands such as ascending/descending stairs, walking stooping and standing.

  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment ‘PPE’ when working/visiting manufacturing and plant locations.

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery including but not limited to printer, tablets, cell phones.

  • Moves transports, puts, or removes equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.; pushes, pulls products weighing up to 200 lbs. using provided safety tools.

  • May be exposed to varying weather during travel.

  • Domestic travel required approximately 50%.
