General Purpose of the Job

The Senior Village Giving Manager is, first and foremost, a strategic people leader responsible for guiding a dynamic, high-performing small team. This leader bridges the gap between national impact and local community engagement, serving as a key partner to the DaVita Giving Foundation Executive Director to ensure operational excellence, compliance, and high-level board engagement.

Beyond the Foundation, you will drive the strategy and implementation of DaVita’s largest nonprofit partnerships and community-based health screenings. As a "player-coach," you will balance high-level strategy with hands-on execution while fostering a culture of growth, accountability, and purpose within the Village Giving team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & Development (New Section)

Coaching & Mentorship: Provide active, hands-on leadership to the Village Giving team. Focus on individual teammate development, continuous feedback, and career pathing within the Village.

Culture Building: Cultivate a collaborative, high-trust environment typical of small, agile teams. Ensure the team remains connected to the "Why" behind our work.

Resource Management: Actively remove roadblocks for the team, prioritizing workstreams to balance "business as usual" with high-priority strategic initiatives.

2. National Partnership Implementation

Strategic Execution: Lead the end-to-day implementation of major partnerships (e.g., National Kidney Foundation, ADA), translating high-level goals into actionable project plans that deliver measurable ROI.

Cross-Functional Integration: Collaborate across the Village (Clinical, People Services, ESG) to fully integrate national partners into business operations and strategy.

Community Screenings: Serve as the strategic lead for DaVita’s community-based health screening initiatives, managing everything from partner sourcing and timeline management to executive communications.

3. DaVita Giving Foundation Administration

Board Management: Partner with the Executive Director on end-to-end Board meeting management (agendas, decks, minutes), ensuring Directors are equipped for strategic funding decisions.

Audit & Compliance: Serve as the primary lead for the annual audit and tax filings (990-PF), managing external auditor relationships and ensuring strict adherence to private foundation regulations.

Operational Operations: Oversee grantmaking operations, including budget tracking, Minimum Distribution Requirement (MDR) monitoring, and timely disbursements.

4. Partner Management (Colorado & Local Community)

Relationship Ownership: Manage the strategic impact grant portfolio, overseeing partner measurement, project development, and teammate integration.

Community Strategy: Align local giving with national strategy, ensuring our Colorado footprint reflects broader health and education goals while addressing local needs.

External Representation: Act as a visible leader in the local nonprofit ecosystem, representing DaVita at key events and partner meetings.

Education and Experience Requirements

Experience: 8+ years in corporate social responsibility (CSR), foundation operations, or strategic partnership management including experience.

People Leadership: Demonstrated success managing small teams with a high degree of accountability. Experience acting as a mentor and "player-coach" is essential.

National Partnership Experience: Proven track record managing large-scale, multi-stakeholder partnerships at a national level.

Foundation Governance: Strong preference for experience in foundation administration, including audits, board governance, and grant compliance.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Public Administration, Communications, or related field required.

Travel: Willing to travel up to 20% of the time and some evening/weekend work expected.

Work Environment: In-office a minimum of 3 days a week. Denver-based only.

Key Competencies

Talent Developer: Passionate about coaching teammates and elevating the performance of the collective group.

Strategic Operator: Capable of seeing the "big picture" of national strategy while flawlessly executing administrative details.

Process & Compliance: Strong operational mindset with the ability to manage complex audits and financial reporting.

Relationship Builder: Skilled at navigating relationships with diverse stakeholders—from national nonprofit CEOs to internal Board Directors.

Agility: Comfortable pivoting between driving national health initiatives and managing local grant cycles without losing focus.
