Sr. Manager, SEO and AI Discoverability

ROLE SUMMARY

As part of the Chief Marketing Organization, the Senior Manager, SEO/GEO will join the Performance Marketing team to help support Pfizer’s evolution in organic and generative search, ensuring our brands are discoverable. This role combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, responsible for shaping how our brands show up in traditional search engines and emerging AI-powered search experiences. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in SEO, a strong understanding of the evolving GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) landscape, and a passion for innovation. This individual will collaborate cross-functionally with brand teams, analytics, content, and media to drive measurable impact and future-proof our organic search strategy.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • SEO/GEO Strategy: Support the development and execution of SEO and GEO strategies across multiple websites within the Pfizer portfolio, ensuring visibility in both traditional search engines and emerging AI-powered search experiences.
  • Analytical Insights: Use data to identify optimization opportunities and translate data into actionable insights that inform content and technical strategy.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional partners including brand marketers, analytics, content, and paid media to implement GEO and SEO tactics aligned with business and marketing objectives.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and report on SEO performance and AI Visibility performance, including presence in AI summaries. Establish performance benchmarks and reporting frameworks to measure the impact of SEO/GEO initiatives, communicating results and opportunities to senior leadership.
  • Monitor Industry Trends: Monitor and evaluate AI search trends, evolving SERP formats, and algorithm changes, proactively adjusting strategies to maintain competitive advantage in evolving search environments.
  • Innovate: Drive innovation through partnership with platform vendors, ensuring tools and technologies support advanced GEO capabilities, reporting automation, and integration with analytics systems.
  • Advocate & Evangelize: Serve as a subject matter expert and internal advocate for SEO and GEO best practices, educating stakeholders and influencing decision-making at both strategic and tactical levels.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS required
  • 6+ years of agency or client-side SEO experience (Healthcare expertise preferred but not required)
  • SEO Expertise: Deep expertise in SEO content and technical best practices, strategy, and implementation, including Crawlability/Accessibility, Schema Markup, Page Speed, Site Migration, Keyword Research, and Content Ideation and Optimization.
  • GEO Experience: Experience optimizing for AI-driven search experiences and generative search platforms.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead and mentor junior team members, fostering growth and autonomy.
  • Proven Track Record: Strong track record of adapting to algorithm shifts, SERP landscape updates, and leading data-driven SEO campaigns that resulted in growth.
  • Strong analytical skills: The ability to collect, analyze, and tie data to actionable next steps that will drive performance and growth.
  • Cross-functional collaboration skills: Experience working closely with content teams, analytics teams, and paid search teams.
  • Expertise or familiarity with SEO and Analytics Tools: BrightEdge, Conductor, Google Search Console, SEMRush, Screaming Frog, Adobe Analytics, Google Trends, and the ability to learn new tools quickly. Experience with emerging AI visibility tracking tools and willingness to experiment with new technologies.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to present complex topics to senior leaders and get buy-in from key stakeholders.
  • Organization & Project Management: Ability to manage projects across multiple brands without sacrificing quality.
  • Curiosity: Demonstrate an eagerness to learn and stay up to date on the latest trends and changes in the SEO/GEO AI visibility landscape.
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $120,800.00 to $201,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
